Well, I could only cheer that it would be Sonic 4. It was pretty obvious, but that didn't stop me screaming when it was official :P
But, still, the episodic content was a complete surprise! I hope each episode lasts as long as Sonic 3!

Is it me, or is that 16-bit? That would be awesome if Sega's doing what Capcom did with Mega Man---taking it back to its roots.

No, it's 2.5D, 3D in a 2D world. Only the retrospective is 16-bit, the 2010 part is entirely 3D. The spirit of Sonic remains the same tho, think as a classic Genesis Sonic game with graphics ON STEROIDS.

Hmm... That run cycle seems kinda off. Here's to hoping that's just when he starts running, and it goes to something a bit better for high speeds.

who ever wrote the extra part for the video its 2.5d get it right. so finally we can see the new sonic 4 ( wow big suprise), its also downloadable from wiiware, xbox live and ???

this could be the first game i will download on wiiware or anything. excpet it comes by CD, and i'm totally buying this. i don't think this will beat mario, but at least can compete with the new 2.5D marios.

and please stop teasing us with all this, its getting annoying fter a while.

and good old eggman is back.

Everywhere I've seen it, it was Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. Ah, man. This game has me so giddy, I'm just spewing out stuff without thinking. Someone should propose a toast to this game while I remain blissfully optimistic!

Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I love statistics, and statistics say that their track-record isn't very good right now.

Once again, it strongly depends

If you don't count the spin-offs there were really just two bad games in the franchise
The rest were average games that fell victim to the hate caused by the bad ones

Not counting hand-helds, I've got
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Heroes
Shadow the Hedgehog (spin-off, I guess)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic and the Secret Rings
Sonic Unleashed
Sonic and the Black Knight
on my list of games I would put in the "not good track-record" file.

I thought that a creature of the Selachimorpha variety had been aerially overtaken.

But I'm not thinking about what I felt about the game, I'm thinking about how it was received in general, as in part of their good or bad track-record, and Adventure 2 was Sonic's equivalent of "being rocked", as they say in the UFC commentary.

Hence I used the word "rocked", from the Ultimate Fighting Championship terminology, as in it not being knocked down, or even in trouble, but not having a sure footing anymore.

Also - to promote his earlier videos - if you listen to the Game Overthinker you'll see where my beef with the game lies and why I thought it jumped the shark.

Shadow? That's it? Alright well while I won't argue, how does it make the game any worse? Granted the Story and where everything came from is completely ****** over, I still thought having Shadow was fine until they brought him magically back to life because of the bloody fans.. What I'm saying is, is that Shadow should have stayed dead, been a beloved exclusive character to that ONE game, and only come back for spin-offs.

It's kind of how Transformers is an awful, awful, awful, awful, awful film because of the embarrassing jokes, puns and dialog. I would have left the theater if I hadn't known that the action in the end is what I payed for. Tight controls does not a game make, the whole package has to work together.

Do you have Sonic Adventure 1?
I don't get why people think Sonic Adventure 1 is better than 2. It has just as corny a story (although I kind of liked their stories). The gameplay is even more slippery and odd-feeling. Even the robot/treasure-hunting parts played OK enough.

Sonic Adventure 2 had better pacing, at least.
Anyway, sorry. :P Just throwing that out there. 3D Sonic has NEVER been specifically great. Just OK at best. In my opinion.

Huh? "Tight controls?"
Those words and "Sonic Adventure" are never in the same sentence unless there's some kind of negative in there.

I'm not saying that SA specifically has tight controls, I'm saying that a game has to work as a whole package.

yeah, I noticed the episode one thing too, I really hope they don't make us buy multiple parts of a whole game. (then again Sega has to do something to keep to their recent tradition of getting it almost right and then doing something stupid at the last minute)
