Hahaha, let's mock an innovative new way to play games because you can do the same things with a controller! While we're at it, let's mock things like microwaves. Haha, who would want to use one of those things? Old school cooking over a wood fire is all we need. Right?
They're not trying to make us look like idiots or reinvent something that was already working. They're doing something new with this. An important aspect of most successful games is how well the game immerses you in the game world. The game is more enjoyable when you sort of forget you're sitting there playing a game. It's "Do I want to do this?" Instead of "Do I want my character to end up like X?"
This Natal thing is a step in that direction. Maybe it'll work, maybe it'll be fun, maybe not. But you shouldn't be ******* mocking their efforts! And then you turn around in some of your VGR's and OOTB's and comment on whether the game feels like a Halo or some other successful game's clone or not. Make up your mind and stop being hypocrites.

And I'm amused that by bringing a counterargument to the table here, I've somehow immediately become a troll. Hey Abrams, how 'bout you take that can, tape a lit firecracker to the side, and shove it right up your ass? Kthx.
As for taking the video too seriously, am I? This goes in the same bucket as political cartoons. It's meant to be funny, yes, but it's also expressing an opinion.
Pat: "you say that they not trying make look like idiots just make us jump around and act crazy" Well when you play any Wii game I imagine you do a good deal of arm-flailing. This seems to be the next evolution of that.
But really, unless you're playing with a demo of this in a store, you're going to be in the comfort and relative privacy of your home. And if this thing's any good it should make anyone that's there watching you also want to play, or at least see and understand the direct context of your flailing. And it's not like we don't emberass ourselves in front of our loved ones on a regular basis anyway.

Abrams X Jan 14, 2010 at 9:01 am |

Anyway, I'm all for having LEGIT counter arguments, but the second you referred to ScrewAttack and their Video as "Dumb*****" you lost all credibility, imho.
Besides, If you were actually trying to state a valid opinion and not just troll, you could easily posted a comment at the end of the posts, not replying to the very first post, which had very little "opinion" in it directed towards how they feel towards Project Natal (No offense to Jinzo in any way, I agree though, Ben especially had me rofling with him sitting at the computer desk :P). At it being "inovative", perhaps you've heard of the EyeToy. I'm certainly not the first person to point it out
So, seriously man, just chill yourself out and take it as the video is clearly meant; satirical. As far as shoving things up one's ass, me thinks you woke up this morning with the wrong side of the stick wedged up yours.

No, I'm actually a diehard PC gamer, annoyinglad. I hate consoles in general, but they're doing something here that's, at least to some degree, innovative. You'd prefer they make yet another sequel of something instead?

It's just a bit of fun. The guys might not actually feel this way about Natal, but taking the piss out of it is a lot funnier than going on about how brilliant it is.
This gets my 11 for today, loved Chad's attempt at an English accent hahaha.

Pfft. And people call xTrogdorx a Troll? Seriosly, if you want your point to be taken in at all, don't do personal attacks. Allow me to edit your post:
"xTrogdorx:
Screwattack has a great point. Why simulate playing a sport or other physical activity when you can simply go out and do it yourself?
Innovation is nice and all, but the high repetition of movement isn't worth it."

So yeah, I would LOVE to play a game like Modern Warfare 2 with this technology. Sure some functions would still have to be done with buttons on a controller (Can't exactly run around in your living room) But if that controller looked like a real gun

and you could actually look down the gun's sights that you're holding instead of using crosshairs on the screen? Having the character turn in the direction you're pointing? Duck behind cover and lean exactly as much as you're leaning in RL to aim just around a corner? Tell me that wouldn't be awesome. I see a lot of potential for that with this.
And psico skull, yes, you're totally right. You totally look so much cooler sitting there staring at a screen holding a controller and getting fatter than you would if you were moving around instead. >_>
And I'm sorry but there's just too many "This is going to make us soooo much money!" jabs in this video for me to just dismiss it as purely a joke. And this isn't the first time you guys have knocked it either. Poking fun at things is fine but this was both undeserved and pushing it too far, I think. Hence my comments.

I don't see any capacity for repetition here. With the Wii, you flail the remote in a specific way, which the console interprets as initiating a specific action. If Natal is done right, any motion you make with your body should correspond to something happening in the game.

Surely if you turn you wont be able to see the screen anymore...
And Natal looks like crap... seriously like total rubbish. Molynuex should be arrested cos he's basically designing games for paedophiles.
And how will this make any game good? I mean, the Wii is unresponsive for the most part, and pretty much anyone who has one only brings it out when boring people come over so they have something to do.
I hope Natal fails... utterly
PS3 Motion controllers however, look accurate and well thought out. Can't wait for a jedi game with that mofo!
