THAT WAS GREAT AND REALLY SIMPLE TO PUT TOGETHER!  Could you clarify something?  The sensor bar you made DOES NOT connect to the back of the Wii correct?

No, it does not.  The crappy cell phone adapter plugs into the outlet on the far side of the room.  Thank you :)

OR you could waste 20 dollars on a wireless wii sensor bar, or just buy a tv and organize your room better...

This is true, but I don't like using batteries in things because I'm too lazy to change them. :(

Lol, buy rechargable batteries, this way you don't need the mess of which batteries are drained and which are working.

Unless if that dinosaur is flying, then it's time to bust out the slingshot

This was very nice project, and it took me back to high school Comp. Tech Network class, but why not just buy one of the Nyko wireless sensor bars? They can be found cheap, and they work.

Well, those wireless sensor bars take batteries, and I hate digging around for a bucket of AA's whenever I'm starting to do something.  Plus, why buy something that's nice and fancy in a package when you can have awesome wires hanging all over the place?:D

Hehe :)  I do stuff like that in some of my videos.  I've got a lot more planned here...including some case mods and other fixes.

Yeah, cats seem naturally attracted to tiny wires. Hate it when they chew them apart.

To the video poster, very nicely done. You explained it well, and it seems to be relatively easy to make. No more crappy wireless Nyko for me... the way the batteries manages to run out at the worst of times is aggravating.

So basically the sensorbar isn't a sensor at all. It's just a kind of position lights that get sensored by the wii mote. Interesting.

Yep, this is true. What's interesting is that the human eye cannot see the light.  So when you turn it on, the actual LEDs are invisible.  But when you use a camera or cell phone to look, they have that glow to them.  I had another one I built for a friend and put a green LED in series on it so I could tell if it was on or off, but I figured it's unnecessary at this point.  If it doesn't work, I'll know it's not on :)

Usually, more oftan than not, I find that the original Wii sensor bar (which as we all know DOESN'T SENSE ANYTHING!) is too weak, and some games will actually tell you to move closer to your TV. Mainly Rayman Raving Rabbids, and won't allow you to play until you do.

By making a custom sensor bar (AKA LED BAR) you can not only have your Wii console far away from it, but with stonger LEDs on the bar, you can sit further away from your TV.

The Wii sensor bar seems to be good upto 7 feet, and then starts to get weak and can affect gameplay if you sit farther away.
