I had return of the joker for gameboy when I was a kid, and although it was really frikkin difficult, I don't particularly remember much problem with the controls... the rising acid suage junk was always the hardest part, and besides that I pretty much enjoyed it.  I kinda want to go pick up a copy of that game now to see just how bad it was compared to how I remember it.
