A look at Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Free Will.

*WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD*

Hey guys, today I will be doing a more intelligent blog than usual. I will be looking at the original Bioshock and its arguments against the Ayn Rand ideal of objectivism. Of course, many of you who are interested in the original Bioshock will have read about this so I will also give you my interpretation of the sequel as well as my own views on so called, “Free will.”

Now, the original Bioshock, to put it bluntly, is a big, “**** you,” to Ayn Rand. She believed in something called objectivism. Here is the Wikipedia explanation.

“Objectivism holds that there is a mind-independent reality; that individuals are in contact with this reality through sensory perception; that humans gain objective knowledge from perception by measurement and form valid concepts by measurement omission; that the proper moral purpose of one's life is the pursuit of one's own happiness or "rational self-interest;" that the only social system consistent with this morality is full respect for individual human rights, embodied in pure, consensual laissez-faire capitalism; and that the role of art in human life is to transform abstract knowledge, by selective reproduction of reality, into a physical form – a work of art - that one can comprehend and respond to with the whole of one's consciousness."

To put that in slightly simpler terms, she believed that selfishness and free will were the only way that society would reach its goal. That there is a clear moral right or wrong and that we must improve our knowledge until we can reach it. Sounding familiar yet? Andrew Ryan, who's name itself is very similar to Ayn, believed in the same philosophy. He based Rapture on selfishness, greed and the free will of the individual.

Now, as the game shows, this society will not last. Rapture collapses within itself due to the corruption and selfishness of its inhabitants. The plasmids that these people injected themselves with were the main cause, but do these plasmids represent anything? I say yes. I believe that these drugs are a representation of peoples selfish wishes. The more we indulge in them, the more we want them and the less human we become until we eventually become the splicer monsters that roam Rapture.

The other major argument against Ayn Rand? The concept of free will, and raising the question of how much free will we actually have. Throughout the game you are instructed by Atlas. He gives you your missions and you complete, never questioning why as that is the usual concept of video games. How does it end up? Atlas is controlling you with the phrase, “Would you kindly,” a phrase which is so polite and calm that its vindictive meaning is hard to grasp at first. So, the free will you believed you had throughout the game isn't real. Everything you have done has not been your own choice, merely someone pulling your strings. This raises the question, does anybody truly have free will? I will save that for the end. First, lets talk about the sequel. Bioshock 2.

What do I feel is the underlying message of this game? Well, I believe it is much more sinister than its predecessor. Throughout the game the very clear message I was receiving, was an anti-family one. You must rescue Eleanor. She is much more attached to you than her Biological mother despite that fact you are merely a faceless, government fueled machine who is merely there to protect her. Throughout you are constantly fighting for your, “Child,” against the true parent. The whole game questioned not only normal morals, but also family morals. Who is your true parent? The one who cares for you, or the biological one.

During the end cutscene (assuming you did the evil ending) there is quite a deep moment. Ever heard the phrase, “Blood is thicker than water?” Well the game takes that and adds it to the game to give a level of irony. Eleanor will allow her mum to drown, killing off her own blood. This is yet another representation of anti-family. Blood is not thicker than water, blood relationships are pointless and only the strong and solo survive. It is a much darker meaning, yes, but one the game presented excellently.

Now, for free will. I'll get this out the way. There is no such thing. Free will is a concept that can not possibly be true. Every single thing we do is influenced by something or someone. Putting on clothes in the morning? Not free will, you only do it because society demands it. Helping someone over the road? You only do it because it is seen as good and could benefit you eventually. Nothing is of your free will, it is merely you being influenced by society and its morals. Sorry if that is dark, or even Andrew Ryan like, but that is how I see it. Feel free to argue with me, but I doubt it will work. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

A short in-depth look at comedy films.

Comedy. Potentially the most varied genre in the history of film, literature and every other form of media. Think about it. Almost every action film will have an explosion, every horror will have a kill but comedy? There are so many different things that make different people laugh that there are no real guarantees when sitting down with a comedy. However, I am mainly here to talk about one thing that really annoys me, comedy related that is. Silly comedy.

It's stupid but god damn I love this series.

I would like to tell you about a conversation I had with someone. They are one of these people you come across from time to time who are very full of themselves. We got on to the subject of comedy films and he told me how much he despised low brow comedy. I asked him why and his reply was, “Because I am a sophisticated person and I like sophisticated stuff.” I thought for a minute and simply asked him whether Shakespeare was sophisticated. As I expected he replied with a near arrogant yes. I then asked him whether he considered the play, “Midsummer's Night Dream,” sophisticated. He said that, as it was a Shakespeare play, it was fairly sophisticated. At that point I pointed out to him that the main source of comedy, as the play was a comedy, was that the main character had a donkeys head. I asked whether that scenario was sophisticated. His response? A disappointed no.

If you don't like this film, there is something seriously wrong with you.

In case you can't see the point in that speech, here it is in a nutshell. Comedy is subjective, comedy is varied and no type of comedy is any lower, worse or dumber than any other. The people they appeal to may be stupider, yes, but then again intelligent people may like it. Many people would say the Scary Movie series is stupid, dumb and low brow. I liked it, and I would consider myself a fairly intelligent person. I know someone who is dumb as bricks, yet his favourite comedy is the darkly humorous, intelligent war comedy M*A*S*H. And that is the beauty of comedy, it can appeal to anyone and everyone. Monty Python, constantly called the greatest comedy troupe ever, are also the silliest. Hell, they had a sketch about old ladies reenacting the battle of pearl harbor.

Proof that Kubrick can do anything better than anyone.

To summarize what I am saying, no comedy is stupid. No comedy should be called bad because it tries to appeal to the core element of funny without trying to coat it in fake intelligence. Now, I will be doing another blog soon (hopefully) about a certain conversation I had on the state of films today and trust me, it will make your skin crawl. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Wow, I was gone for a while wasn't I?

This will probably be my shortest blog ever, probably create more controversy then it is worth (knowing my luck) and be taken in the wrong context. But seriously, how long was I gone. In the words of Ash, "NO, I SLEPT TOO LONG!!!!" I come back and the first thing I read basically says that Elmo and Whitly have been banned. Again, WHAT?

I am not here to argue that they shouldn't (the rules ARE there for a reason) or that the mods are bad. In fact, I feel they have gotten much better since 4.0 started but maybe that's just me.

What I want to know is what is happening to our community. Never, in my time, have I seen such negativity and flame balling round the site. Never have I seen so many legends of the game (DJ, Elmo, Whitly) leaving there home behind. I am seriously a little shaken to have to come back to this. I was a frequent visitor, not turned into a forgotten memory and I am frankly shocked.

Maybe I have come in at the wrong time and it will all die down (god I hope so) but I think I may now be one of the very few members of the skype group left. And that is scary, and worrying, I AM BAD REPRESENTATION. For those of you who weren't around for their glory days, imagine my blogs quality times, oh say, 5000. Yeah, that's about right.

So basically, before any smartarse's decide to say, I only made this blog to say, "I came, I saw and I am now rocking back and forth in a corner asking why? Why did this happen?" This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Ideas for Screwattack achievements and/or groups.

Before anyone decides to try and be clever, I have already posted this in the forums. However, I realize that a fairly large proportion of the community is not active on the forums, but are active on the blogs. So I decided to repost this here. Just an idea of mine that SHOULD NOT be taken seriously. What do you think would be good idea for Screwattack/video game related groups ala facebook. And, what about new screwattack achievement names that are based on xbox achievements. For example.

Groups:

I feel bad when I kill a skag in Borderlands because it feels like shooting a dog

Craigs hat of awesomeness fan club

COREY SHOULD DYE HER HAIR BLONDE (inevitability this one.)

Achievements:

"Too much free time"
Comment on 200 blogs

"You made it kid"
Get a blog in the spotlight

"OMG, GOD IS SPEAKING TO ME"
Get a comment from a Screwattack staff member.

"No, the hat goes on the head."
Post a forum post in the blog section (though this may be pointless judging by the standard of blogs dropping, WHICH IS A GOOD THING.)

These are just my ideas of course, please come up with some of your own. They can be funny, serious or just plain stupid. I don't care. Every single one that people suggest will be marked down and I will make a big blog dedicated to them, listing each one. That is assuming this gets noticed, which it more than likely wont since we have already had one super awesome community thing that was a much better idea than this. On that note, the video was awesome Debaser and you should be proud. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkky and Old School Master Discuss Spyro 3.

Here is the discussion in full, on the subject of Spyro 3. I hope you enjoy it.

Old School Master: I can give you feedback on Spyro 3, for Crash and the other spyros, I only have vague memories :P

Super Munkky: Well we shall just discuss Spyro 3 for now then :P

Super Munkky: I personally felt the best aspect of the entire game was the depth and size of it

Super Munkky: When I was 10 (which I assume is the target age) it took me six months to complete and get to the bonus world, and that was playing about 5 hours a week

Old School Master: I only found the Bonus World very recently.

Super Munkky:

Old School Master: Before, I had no idea of it's existence.

Super Munkky: I thought the idea of getting all the eggs was something only the best players in the world could achieve, so when I did it I felt like the best player in the world (similar to the feeling I get when getting the most kills in MW2 :P)

Old School Master: Indeed, but for me... getting every egg AND every gem felt more like gettin' a NUKE !

Super Munkky: And like you said earlier, the story, including the Hunter Bianca love story, was one of the best platforming stories ever. It revelled in its own simplicity and set a bar for me which hasn't been matched since.

Old School Master: I have to agree, the cutscenes were incredibly silly and fun. And as a kid, I LOVED spyro's cool dude attitude.

Super Munkky: Same, though I think the game wasn't the best influence on me. I was convinced Rhynos were evil until the age of 12 :P

Old School Master: Lolz, Something else that was awesome with the game... The boss fights! And the Allies !

Super Munkky: The allies were brilliant. Agent 9 was my personal favourite

Super Munkky: And the bosses were also fantastic, Buzz was just hilarious and fun to play. I think Spyro 3 is the only game other than Crash 3 in which I REPLAYED the bosses.

Old School Master: Indeed, the music was pretty hardcore too :P

Old School Master: Although, sometimes, a bit repetitive, but the gameplay made it okay.

Super Munkky: I never notice music in games (except for my good ol' Half Life)

Super Munkky: The gameplay was great but I am a lover of platformers. We need more good ones in the modern gaming world, rather than the usual Grey/Brown that is FPS

Old School Master: Indeed, what's sad is that the new Spyro games are , in my opinion, not as good and fun to play as the old ones were. Although the 4th one, enter the dragonfly, was okay !

Super Munkky: I actually enjoyed Enter The Dragonfly but I found the ending incredibly dissapointing. Then again, I never got ALL the dragonflys so that might be why. The new, "Legend Of Spyro," series is just terrible in my opinion. SPARX SHOULD NOT TALK, HE FREAKING BUZZES. That is the rule, Spyro 3 had him buzzing, that should be the only way

Old School Master: AND ! He shouldn't be in love, only, suggested in love !

Super Munkky: I always thought him and Spyro were secretly in love for some reason, though there is on Spyro love interest/thing that should come back to a Spyro game. Freaking Elora, and maybe the professer. Hunter came back (even though he was the least awesome of the trio), why haven't the others?

Super Munkky: AND CRUSH & GULP? God I loved those two (The Spyro 2 bosses for those who don't know). They were hilariously stupid sidekicks and made for excellent boss battles.

Old School Master: True, True :P

Old School Master: How about the skateboarding levels?

Old School Master: Weren't those awesome !?

Super Munkky: They were genuinely quite fun, though all the mini-game things were pretty good

Super Munkky: The skateboarding levels, the races, the submarines. All of the were class and helped improve the game by quite a lot

Old School Master: Aaaah, memory lane...

Super Munkky: My only complaint is that the Sorceress (first time around) was too easy, as were most of the Spyro 3 bosses :S Course, on the bonus world she was so much better

Old School Master: Yeah, there was not really any pattern to follow, just shoot, and when you faced her again... it was just, the same thing.

Super Munkky: Indeed. And the levels varied in difficulty. For example the Sparx levels & Agent 9s levels were much harder than a lot of levels

Super Munkky: I feel the challenge should have increased as you went through the game, rather than just swapping[8:53:14 PM] Old School Master: The bonuses that sparx got throughout the game were really helpful !

Old School Master: Pointing remaining gems and even warp !

Super Munkky: True, and they varied up the gameplay for you. One thing I always loved were the speedways.

Old School Master: And The Hidden Hunter in each one of 'em.

Old School Master: Then you could battle spacesheep!

Super Munkky: Yeah, my favourite was when you had to stop people from being abducted, in the barn level I think it was.[8:56:56 PM] Old School Master: Heum... yeah, I think so !

Old School Master: You could also race against bees.

Super Munkky: they were surpisingly challenging

Old School Master: And pretty fast too, BUT !

Old School Master: You could shoot rockets at them !

Super Munkky: This game really promotes animal cruelty, shooting bees, flaming spiders and killing rhynos. BAD SPYRO

Old School Master: Although Spyro was an animal too ! Survival of the fittest !

Super Munkky: Yeah but Dragons aren't real, are they? And how come it is only the dangerous or fictional characters that are good, like Cheetahs or Fauns or Midget old guys.

Old School Master: .... Yeeeah.

Old School Master: But how's about Moneybags ?

Super Munkky: He was SO irritating

Old School Master: You could punish him AND steal his money ! How cool was that ?

Super Munkky: Ok that was good, and it taught is an important life lesson. Scamming people doesn't work, unless you are a Nigerian lottery runner.

Old School Master: Running people are always good scammers. Caus' they're quick on the trigger (Dun Dun Douch)

Super Munkky: *Cue cheesy sitcom laugh*

Old School Master: Lolololololz !

Super Munkky: Anyway, back on track. My favourite level was probably the Firework Factory level, especially the mini-game where you fight the weird dragons.

Old School Master: The Twin Dragons ~!

Old School Master: Those were pretty hard to kill at first, they kept regenerating.

Super Munkky: Yeah, they took more than a few tries. And that level marked the return of Handel and Greta, who were two of my favourite characters from Spyro 2.

Old School Master: The martial arts little girl ?

Super Munkky: Yeah

Super Munkky: And the little boy

Super Munkky: They were from the level Scorch in Spyro 2, they were trainee spys in that. Oh, and my knowledge of Spyro 2 and 3 is very, very sad

Old School Master: Knowledge is power !

Old School Master: The characters is Spyro always were nice round and colorful, sometimes a bit stock, but nevertheless fun !

Super Munkky: It was an upbeat game, something you slip on when you just want to have fun and feel challenged at the same time

Old School Master: Well, it wasn't VERY challenging, although some of the eggs were pretty well hidden.

Super Munkky: I felt it was relatively challenging in the same way Mario 64 is challenging.

Old School Master: Well, If you wanna find the 150 eggs and ALL of the gems, It can be :P

Super Munkky: You can't NOT try and find them, it is frustatingly addictive

Super Munkky: Hmmm, is there anything else we can really talk about?

Old School Master: ... We discussed the characters, the challenge.

Super Munkky: The story, the mini-games[9:16:40 PM] Old School Master: The STORY !

Old School Master: Eggs gettin' locked away, and stolen and... you have to get 'em caus' the bad guys wants dragon wings.

Super Munkky: We didn't discuss it? Hot damn that is stupid

Super Munkky: I love the story

Super Munkky: The idea or jealousy over wings is something I can relate to And the fact that Bianca is REALISTIC makes it great, felling guilty over here crimes and all.

Old School Master: Yeah, and actually trying to make up for her mistakes !

Old School Master: I think Bianca preferred Spyro though :P

Super Munkky: I thought that, they were blatantly flirting and then they do a U-turn and stick her with Hunter. EITHER WAY IT IS STILL WRONG and probably inspired some form of rule 34

Old School Master: ...

Old School Master: Pronz of everything :P

Super Munkky: Indeed

And that is where we finished off, I had a lot of fun and this was an excellent discussion. I hope to do more of these. This is Super Munkky signing off, see ya and happy blogging.

Why do all noughties innovations in gaming suck?

Oh, lets get this out the way. THIS IS MY OPINION, DO NOT FLAME OR SO HELP ME GOD, IT WILL BE THE LAST THING YOU DO. Ah, good. Now, I am here to ask the question, "Why have we had such crappy innovations in the gamin industry over the noughties." Now, I can hear all ten of you getting mad but let me put this in perspective for you by going over things that could be considered innovative and I will say why they suck

Please, see above as I do not want to repeat myself. I like the fact that I can not tell the difference between the Forza Audi R8 and the real Audi R8 but can we please have some games that aren't uber realistic. Gaming is meant to be an escape from reality, not a slightly altered version of it. And I am not saying there haven't been those type of games. Borderlands went for a very unique gaming look that wasn't overly realistic. Guess what? I say that is the best looking game of the year. Developers, take not. Unique is better than realistic.

And that about sums up my views. There are probably more, "Innovations," so please feel free to point them out to me. Course, I will probably just argue against them and if my argument is good I will edit it into this :P This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkkys 2009 Review Part 2: A General Look Back

Well people, we have come to the end of the year. For me, this has been the most eventful year of my young life, though I am sure there are plenty more to come. Lets start with the first big thing shall we? I joined Screwattack. Back in April I joined this site as I had watched SA's, "Top ten games that need to be made," list and became interested in the site. I joined and was relatively inactive for the first couple of months. Then, in July, I made my first blog. It was a list of my 5 favourite films and was relatively poor in terms of quality (though by SA's current standards it was OK). However, I got numerous fairly positive comments and I slowly became hooked to this awesome site.

I'll throw a couple of these in just to remind you.

I was relatively unknown for a while, with my only real follower being the almighty TheBertRam. (BTW I am only linking him as I never really thanked him for the major influence he has had on my work). Then there was my big breakthrough. My novel. How I have come to loathe that thing, partly due to the number of imitation blogs that swallowed the recent posts list at the time (don't get me wrong, I am happy I inspired people) and partly due to the fact I set a standard to myself which I would never reach. Nothing I would do after that would ever hit that level of popularity. After that my popularity has slowly wained until this point. I am now just another lowly blogger, remembered only by my Skype mates. Though, I prefer that. It means I constantly have that push because, lets face it, I am not a naturally skilled writer. I haven't the writing ability of, say, DJGrandPa, Elmo or TB. I don't have the humour level of Waluigi and I do not have the video making abilities of an ant. But this year on SA has been great and I love you all for making it so great.

Yes. Yes you are.

But of course this year has not entirely been about Screwattack. As my recent lack of activity may have shown, my social life has sky rocketed. I have more friends than ever, I go out practically every night and I even have a girl after me. Life could seriously not be better. I wont bore you with the details but lets just say dance music is a savior, clubbing is a god and, in the words of that immortal song, "Last night a DJ saved my life." Sorry. I just had to sneak that reference in their somewhere. Course my school life is also grand, my work is of a high standard, thanks to my writing ability improving (Wandering_Swordsman, I forever owe you) my English teacher loves me and I am genuinely enjoying school. Basically, this year has been awesome in every single respect and hopefully 2010 will be even better. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging. Oh, and as a farewell to 2009, here is my 3.0 farewell video again. Listen out for your name, it should be on there .

To all you guys.

Super Munkky 2009 Review Part 1: Christmas

Yes this is an odd one to start on for my 2009 look back but I find it is the easiest to write about, so here it is. The three best games I got for Christmas and a quick review of them based on first impressions. I will do other things for this series and it will almost definitely cross over into 2010. For example I may do a review of music, one of films and one of the games. I may of course make this a big thing and do loads of categories but for now, lets stick to this. Lets start then shall we? Oh, and thanks to everyone for their comments on my blog saying why I am inactive, I really appreciate it.

I am genuinely surprised at how much I love this game. It really is a gem of the gaming world and will probably not get the acclaim it deserves. Lets start with the gameplay. It is similar to the classic guitar hero control scheme in that you must press coloured buttons at the right time. However, there are more things in the game that make it more challenging. The scratching element is fairly simple, when the icon appears you simply spin the disk A.K.A scratch. The cross fading is more difficult in my opinion due to the timing. You move the cross fader in the direction the icon shows. Go watch a video on youtube, it makes more sense than I do. Now lets get onto a major part of the game, the soundtrack.

The mix ups between seemingly un-related tracks work. Scarily, they work very, very well. There are some obvious ones in there such as the mix up between Eminem and Jay Z that work very well, but some you just wouldn't expect. For example, the Jackson 5 and Jay Z is one of my favourite songs on the game and yet, you would not expect it at all. The game also features a number of famous faces such as Grand Master Flash, who acts as a teacher to you in the tutorial, and Daft Punk. One thing I will say about this game, if you do not like electro you will not like this game. However, for those of us who love our club music, this game is perfect for you, simply brilliant.

And that about sums up my review. I did get many more games such as Brutal Legend and Borderlands but these are the ones I have been on the most. Look out for the next parts in this. Oh, and one more thing.

That's right, g1s! Doc Oc here to announce that I'm planning to make a Game of the Year Awards Ceremony for 2009! I just have one problem: I need people! So far it's only Darkseid, Blaze, super munkky, and I working on this project! I need people to do the following jobs:

<li nominate in the following categories.<ul
Super Munkky: 3.0 FTW

Hey guys it's your old pal Super Munkky here with some relatively important news. As many of you know I have been off of Screwattack for a long period of time and unfortunately this may turn into a permanent situation for me. Now, for those of you 4.0 newbies who have no idea who I am, allow me to explain. I am Munkky, for the last little period of 3.0s life I started to become relatively popular among the g1s here. By that I mean I built up a group of friends here who constantly followed my work. Surprisingly these turned out to be some of the most popular g1s on the site like Ultamite Ninja, Silent Protagonist (BTW where is he? I seriously miss him and the newbies are missing out on the chance to meet the nicest g1 ever), Elmo3000, Bertram, DJGrandPa and others.

Now you may be asking, "Yes you are reminiscing and explaining who you are but seriously, what is the point?" To you I say, this is my passing of the torch. I personally still haven't accepted the fact that new faces are taking the spotlight here on 4.0. The new blood is coming and I have been trying to fight that. So for those of you, from me personally, you are now the future of Screwattack. Like the 3.0 bunch before you the future of Screwattack lies with you. This website was founded on the best community in the world and all the newbies will be the ones who lead us. Of course some of the golden oldies are here to help you out, with the likes of UN and DJ becoming as, if not more, popular as they were in 3.0. So I hope you guys have fun, and whenever you see an adequate blog that is neither good nor bad I would like you to think, "Hey, Munkky used to write those all the time." Guys, this is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging folks.

Super Munkkys Favourite Songs To Dance To Part 1

Well this one should be fun, especially considering I haven't written a real blog in absolutely ages. If this is below my usual standard of writing then, well, lower your standards of me because I am practically starting from scratch with writing ability. Anyway, lets start off with one that is kind of obvious. Oh, and all these songs have been chosen based on personal experiences at clubs A.K.A no complaining about the choices, K? Good.

You know what? I am dancing to this song already, it is just a fantastic tune and I love everything about it. First off, if you're using a tune as epic as, "Hall Of The Mountain King," then it is pretty hard to wrong. However, the techno version of it, mixed with all the perfectly timed slow downs and bass drops, screams dance. There is a certain dance that always goes with this song but I can not find a video for it. Lets just say it is hilarious and you would all love it.

Anyway, that marks the end of part 1. I will probably update this every Tuesday as Monday nights are the nights I go clubbing. This is Super Munkky signing off, see ya and happy blogging.

P.S Watching the video Starstrukk with Katy Perry and 30h!3. How FINE does Katy look in it? Seriously, whoa.

Super Munkky: Where Has He Been?

Yes, in the immortal words of Eminem, "Guess who's back, back again." I have returned and I'll be damned if I didn't miss you guys. Of course, I am sure a lot of you (mainly the old 3.0 lads) have been wondering where I went. Well basically, my social life caught up with me and my life has been one hectic event after another. Drugs, alcohol, **** and a distinct lack of girls have taken over my life. Don't worry, there are some stories to go with all these and they will be posted over the Christmas break. However, the main one I want to talk about, quickly, is a clean one that has brought a new member into the Potter family. People, meet Caspar.

Isn't he precious? He is a beautiful little Cocker Spaniel and was born on the 25th of October. We only got him on Thursday. I came home and he bounced towards me. He is a hyper active little bugger, constantly craving attention. Then again, don't all puppies? I love him to pieces and so he will be taking up a lot of my time.

Now, I'd just like to remind people that I may have missed a lot of work so please, PLEASE link your work in the comments if you think I would have liked it. And before anyone starts complaining because of the mention of drugs and such in my first paragraph, let me spell it out now so I don't have to repeat myself. I DON'T CARE. Not even slightly about what you say. Don't quite get the idea yet? OK, allow me to present: man not caring.

See? Anyway, I have missed all you guys and have a hell of a lot of catching up to do. For the first time in quite a while, this is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Gerry, A Super Munkky Story (The Heavily Revised Version).

Simply a revised version of an old story.

Here we stand, alone in the woods. He points out the city to me, saying how it could all be mine if we just took the chance. I looked out and thought he may be right, that it could be mine, but was it worth the risk? I looked at him and thought back to everything we had done together. All the things we had done, and how we ended up here. I thought back to when I first met him.

Waking up was hell that morning. My brain was shut down, openly defying my need to wake up. The pounding in my head was like a bell, never ceasing and bellowing within my mind. Deciding that staying in this luscious haven was not worth the telling off I would receive from my boss, I went downstairs and poured myself some cereal. I drank it all and decided that getting changed would be for the best. Like a little boy on his first day at school, I jumped into my pressed, pinstripe suit. I exited the house and went to the bust stop, one of the last times I would do this as a guilt free man. As I arrived the bus was just pulling up and I jumped on. Paying the driver was a hassle as I didn’t have the exact change but some kindly old gentlemen paid my far, so I took up my usual suit in the bus. Next to me was a stranger, a gentleman of which I had not had the honour of seeing before.

There was am air of mystery around this man, the same feeling you may get when in fog. He had a strange expression on his face so I decided to strike up a conversation with him. I introduced myself as Tim. The man turned and his expressionless face sent a chill down to my very soul. He told me that he was name here and his name was Gerald, Gerry for short. For some reason the way he said his name stuck in my mind as too charming for a man of his looks. However, he seemed nice enough so I decided to see if we had anything in common. After five minutes of mindless chatter we found out we were actually quite similar in terms of personality. He liked similar styles of film and we both supported Wolves. Eventually the bus pulled up to my work so I had to end the very enjoyable conversation we were engaging in. Before I went I asked Gerry to give me his number, and he happily obliged. We bidded each other adieu and I went on my way. I looked down at the number and it suddenly hit that this may become much more than just a bus friendship. One thing I found a little humorous was the fact the last three numbers on his phone were the same as mine. I put it down to coincidence and set into my work.

It was just a normal day at the office. Betty was sending me videos of funny monkeys and Jared was pranking the other members of the office. Nothing really out of the ordinary. When I got home I found myself with nothing to do. I went on the internet and checked out what was on at my local cinema. I noticed the latest installment in my favourite horror series was on so I figured it might be worth watching. I didn't want to go on my own, however, and on instinct went to phone my best friend Jamie. For some reason, I didn't. I looked at Gerry;s number and felt entranced by his name. It was piercing my thoughts and I felt like I had no choice but to call him. I gave him a ring and got the answer I thought I would, “Of course I would, I'll meet you there at six?” I agreed and sat down to watch TV, pondering the decision I had just made. At about half past five I decided to set off to the cinema. He was standing outside when I arrived and we went in to see the film. We came out and were very impressed. He stated that it was one of his favourite films of recent years and I was inclined to agree. It seemed we had so much, and yet, I felt so far from him. I invited him back to my house for a small meal. We had a great time and in what seemed like no time at all ten 'o clock rolled around. We said our farewells and I realized that we had become best friends in the space of a day.

Six months later and the two of us were almost inseparable. We went to Wolves matches together, we saw every new movie together, Gerry even got a job in the same office as me. He had worked his way up to being my secretary and he didn't resent it one bit, even when I occasionally snapped at him. My life became a lot more fun when we were friends but one day things started to get a bit odd. On the way back Gerry lit up a cigarette. I was intrigued so I pestered him about when he started smoking. He turned to me, blew smoke in my face, and told me that he had started a mere three days ago. He asked me if I wanted a drag of his cigarette. I don't know why but I trusted Gerry and thought he wouldn't try and do anything to hurt me., so I took a drag. As I took that smoke back into my lungs I felt like Gerry had just entered my body. Despite the sense that a strange evil was within me I liked it. I seemed to embrace Gerry into me so I asked if I could have some more. He offered me the pack, I took it and tucked it into my pockets before lighting up the one I had taken out. This was the start of Gerry influencing my life. It started off with little things like the cigarette moment, getting me to buy blu ray instead of DVDs and getting me to trade in my DS for a PSP. I thought nothing of it and decided it was him trying to help me but then things got a little more extreme.

The one thing that got it for me is when we found some weed. He picked it up and seemed to mutter aloud, “I've never tried weed before, maybe I should have some. Do you want some too?” I immediately said no and he shrugged his shoulders, almost sarcasticly denouncing my soul. His disappointment spread into me and so I gave in. My logic was that it was something that I may regret passing up on when I am older so we rolled a joint and shared it. We got high and at that point the whole word seemed to spread around my head and I was stuck in the most disturbing state of mind. I saw the colours as more than just few weeks it got more intense. He moved in with me, we started sharing women and he even got me into stealing. One day we were walking past an electronics store and I saw a TV I liked. He nonchalantly asked me why I didn't just take it, telling me I could sneak in that night. I laughed it off as I thought he was joking but the look on his face told me he was serious. There was a look on it that stabbed my rational thought, almost controlling my mind. I told him that it wasn't worth the risk, more so to myself as I was tentatively lapsing into his way of thinking, but he sat me down and explained it.

“Look, the store closes at ten 'o clock. The owner leaves the back door unlocked every night and the alarm has been disconnected from the last week. We just walk in, carry the TV out back, throw it in the care and the shop will be none the wiser.” I was so against the idea, yet my mind seemed to be telling me otherwise, telling me that trusting Gerry was the only way. We sneaked in that very night, the whirring of the machines seemed to be telling me to go back, this was forbidden territory. We succeeded in the plan but the most disturbing part of this had nothing to do with the TV. I didn't feel guilty, and that sent shivers down to my very core.

We were walking home from work when he asked me why I haven't been promoted. I explained to him that the guy above me was stuck in a loop. While he was nowhere near bad enough to get the sack or be demoted, he was never good enough to get a promotion. Gerry looked up to the sky with a puzzled expression on his face. After a few minutes he turned to me and asked me the most important question in my life. Why did I not just kill him? My mind drew a blank and my face showed it. The whole concept sickened me and I asked whether he was serious. Gerry looked even more puzzled and asked me why not? The man above me lived alone, he always left the door open and there was no one else living by him. I said no but for the rest of the day I couldn't get the thought out of my head. The guy above was called Richard and he was based in the office next to mine. Every time I saw him walk past I thought about how easy it would be. All it would take was a little movement of the finger and I would be ten thousand pounds a year better off. I slowly thought that Gerry was right, Richard was an easy target and nobody liked him anyway. No one would miss him and my life would be better for it. Later that night I was walking by his street when I turned to Gerry, gun in my hand, and pointed towards the house.

Gerry had an almost childish grin on his face as he pulled out a gun of his own, and we were now on the same wavelength. Our thoughts were alike and we were going to become much more powerful because of it. We put on gloves before setting out towards the lonely house at the end of the street. The sky was clear so the stars were shining bright. After about five minutes we reached Richards house. He lived in an isolated house just outside of the city so no one would hear when we pulled the trigger. I knocked on the door and we waited.. Eventually Richard opened the door and asked who we were. Gerry had a sickly smile on his face that made me want to throw up. He lifted up the butt of the gun and said one simple word that shook me. “Karma.” I took the gun and pointed it at Richard's face. My soul was screaming at me not to do it, that it wasn't worth it. But the ever present thought of what if was too much to take. I looked away and pulled.

So here we are, running from the police in a dodgy trail in the woods. All the things we had accomplished suddenly hit me, bringing me to a sudden stop. I simply collapsed there and then, starting to crawl up into a ball. Rocking back and forth the overwhelming guilt seemed to swallow me, my soul disintegrating. But as I sat there, thinking of everything, the sense of guilt slowly started to fade. Slowly but surely my mind was dissolving, all emotions leaving my body. And as all this was happening, Gerry was starting to fade. His body seemed to get swallowed by the darkness of the night and it suddenly hit me. I was becoming Gerry. The nameless, guilt free monster that had ran my life for the last year was me, my dark side coming free. So I stood up, looked out to the world and simply said, “You are all mine, Gerry will live forever.”

Hope you enjoyed it, don't forget to comment.

Top 5 things That Are Wrong With The World.

Yes, the world today is pretty much a hell hole filled with happy go lucky idiots or narcotic, hateful idiots such as myself. No longer do we live in a world where being happy makes you look like a freak and I am hear to try and pinpoint the things that have caused this. This contains both typical and not so typical items so I will leave some things out, mention your choices in the comments. Anyway, lets start.

You know it, I know it, and I even bet the company knows it. Everything this black hole of crap is pumping out reeks of, "We want more money from idiotic teens." High School Musical, Camp Rock and the likes just make me sick as they are destroying my childhood. Every film that the company is making right now is a sing song, bad acted, pretty people worshiping **** hole. So, to finish, let me ask you one question. When was the last time you saw Mickey on screen or in a new TV venture? Yeah, I don't know either.

So, that was my list. Hope you enjoyed it and remember. Leave a comment and tell me what you think is wrong with the world today. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Games that changed my perception of a genre part 1.

Well, what do I mean by that title? Basically it is a game that was so good that it changed my outlook on its respective genre. Still a little confused, have a look.

Before I played this game if you said RPG to me I would have told you to FO. There was something about the genre that managed to put me off of it. What it was, I am still not sure. I think the main reason behind my dislike for the genre is the fact it looked like it required work, and that was something I wasn't ready to put into a game. I always thought that a game should be simple and fun, not require me to look at stats and work on things other than killing my enemies. That is, until Oblivion came along. When I got the game I didn't know it was an RPG, so that was the reason I was so willing to play the game, rather than demanding another platformer. I put the game in and the graphics blew me away, but you want to know about the RPG elements that drew me in, not the graphics of the game. The thing that hooked me in was how simple the whole system was. Whenever I thought of RPGs I always thought of boring, repetitive gameplay that would mean I was working on the stats more than the battles. However, when I played Oblivion I had a revelation and my entire opinion the genre changed. It does help the Oblivion is a fantastic game in its own right, one of the best on the 360 by quite a long way. Since I brought Oblivion I have brought many RPG games and there are not that many I dislike, bar the JRPG. Paper Mario is my favourite of the bunch. With its brilliant artistic style and annoyingly addictive gameplay, it definitely is a gem in the video game world. I do however particularly enjoy the shooter RPG genre, a shooter with RPG elements basically. When they integrate this system in to the game I always think it works better than just a flat out shooter. The best example of that for me is Borderlands, but that is another game for another time. All you need to know is that Oblivion is the game that changed my entire perception of the RPG genre.

Since this is rather short I will throw in my review of Oblivion from my top 50 games list. Enjoy.

Ah the first RPG game on my list and what a game it is. This was, and still is the only game I have brought myself for the PS3 (the PS3 is my brothers) it is that good. This was a sequel to the highly successful Morrowind, a game that really pushed the boundaries of gaming. While Oblivion has a smaller map it provides a more compact gaming experience, don't get me wrong the game is huge just not as oversized as Morrowind. I will try to explain the story in as little detail as possible and then tell you about my experience with the game. Enjoy. At its most basic Oblivion is a game about an escaped prisoner who gets caught in a whirlwind of secrets and prophecy's. He then has to stop a mad cult from trying to destroy the world. You start off in prison, being taunted by another prisoner. You do not know what you are in for and that is never really explained (as far as I know). You soon hear some footsteps and some guards step into your cell. They explain that the King must use a secret escape tunnel that is located in your cell (Lady Luck must love you). You decide to follow the guards as it seems like a good way to get out of prison. You arrive in some catacombs and must help guards fight off some would be assassins. You then go through the sewers, killing rats and the like along the way. You soon catch up with the King and his guards and get to help them kill the assassins this time. The King then entrusts you with his sacred amulet known as the amulet of kings why? I still don't know. He tells you to take it to someone and this is when your real adventure begins. You then travel through some more sewers before stepping outside.

This is when you get a real idea of how big the world is. I mean it is massive. I will not ruin the rest of the story for you as it is an extremely interesting one that will keep you hooked from start to finish. Lets start with one of the most impressive things about this game. The graphics. This game was made in 2006 and the graphics still have a wow factor today. They are truly beautiful. The detail in things like facial features and clothes are exquisite , even if the mouth movements are occasionally out of sync with the sound. Like I said the story is excellent and told very well. The gameplay is brilliant and is very hard to describe. You really need to see it or play it to understand what it is like. The musical score is something I do not usually talk about but the music in this game suits the mood perfectly. The dramatic moments are really helped by the score and would not be the same without it. The voice acting is brilliant and had a nice variety of famous faces such as Patrick Stewart. The characters are well explained and are nearly always an intricate part to the story. As well as the main story, however, there are a number of side quests which revolve around things called guilds. These are the dark brotherhood, the thieves guild, the fighters guild, the mages guild as well as being able to fight at the arena.

There is such a wide variety of things to do that the game will keep you occupied for months. I am serious as well, this game took me 4 months to get every achievement. I am not an achievement ***** but I am usually obsessed with completing a game 100% if I think I can. The surprising thing was that I never got bored of the game and everything kept me entertained and interested in the game. Like I said this was the only game I played on from January of this year to April. I would download the DLC but I no longer want to immerse myself in the game as I enjoy playing multiple games. This one just doesn't let you play others without thinking of it. God damn devil game.

So there you go, don't forget to comment. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkkys Top 5 Adverts: REMAKE (A.K.A don't read)

This one is always quite touching for me. It is about a man looking for a book which, if you watched the advert you should know by now, he wrote. It is clearly quite sad for him that no one supplies his book and it has one thing that always tugs at my heartstrings. Sad, old people. I do not know why but the idea of an elder gentlemen always makes me feel really bad, so this obviously got to me. However when he found out someone had his book the advert genuinely made me smile. This is something many adverts don't do and I myself only realized what it had done after it had ended. It made me care for the people in the advert. Odd, unique in that sense and a pleasure to watch, that is why it is my number 5.

4. Xbox 360 advert, fake guns. This baby was banned and that in itself shows the sheer stupidity of the people who censor these adverts. Just because it is FAKING violence towards real people it automatically becomes banned, however and advert about a girl being knocked over (which is one of the more disturbing adverts I have seen) is fine?! Seriously? That is pathetic. Anyway, the advert is just a laugh riot and really makes you giggle at the sheer stupidity of it. The fake guns always make me giggle and the end just makes me burst into uproars of laughter every time. The fact that every time was acting so superbly as well made it even more hilarious. Me and about 20 of my friends reenacted this and I haven't had that much fun acting in a long time. Great job and made me want to own an Xbox even more (don't worry, I do now).

3. Compare The Meerkat.com This is my number 3. Simples. Seriously though this advert is so full of win I can hardly believe it. It contains cuteness, hilarity, randomness and great voice work. This one has swept the nation and deservedly so. These little guys are so lovable, quotable and downright funny it is near impossible not to like them. The meerkat itself actually looks pretty damn good too, even if it is that damn CGI. There is a problem with it though. The thing is so fun to watch, yet I never pay attention to what it is actually advertising. I have gone onto the actual website comparethemeerkat.com many times and yet, never once did I take a gander over to comparethemarket.com to see what it was like. However, these little guys have won my heart and so they obviously deserve the third place on my list.

2. Honda Accord Advert This one has earned its place because of how brilliant it truly is. This was all done for real, all filmed in one take and I can not imagine how may takes they must have done till they got it perfect. I have seen the making of for it and they really did work hard on every intricate detail. The satisfaction of watching it is the same one you may get from watching an incredibly detailed dominoes line fall together. It captures the viewers attention and never lets go really. Course the music at the end is also fantastic so that is a positive too. This has earned its place because it really is awe inspiring. The sheer amount of effort put into it really makes you go, "Wow, they really wanted to sell me this product." If I could but a car, I may buy a Honda Accord just because of this advert, and I don't say that a lot since adverts very rarely affect my purchasing decisions.

1. The Tango Advert Oh how did you not see this one coming? Is putting this at number 1 cliche? Yes. Do I care? Hell no because it is short, sweet and unbelievably funny. But what is it about this little wonder that makes it so funny. Well, it is one of two things. 1) The sheer ridiculousness of the concept, and I have no idea how they sold it. An orange man, being commented on as he slaps a man in the face. It is stupid but works so damn well. 2) The guys face after he has been slapped. It really is the epitome of facial comedy, something which Jim Carrey perfected. It just looks funny, I can not explain why, it just does. The fact it is short too is a big bonus for it. It never overstays its welcome. It gets to the punchline quickly, but allows the anticipation to rise with just the right amount of comic timing. Apparently this caused an outbreak of children, "Tangoing," each other and harming each other. But I am willing to overlook all the mayhem that ensued this advert, just because of how brilliant it is.

Well, that was my little top 5. Hope you enjoyed it, got a few giggles out of it and such. This is Super Munkky signing off, see ya and happy blogging.

Whitly Opens Up: My Irony with Coding

Hey g1s! Whitly here! Normally I’d just be finished school right now, but the H1N1 flu-shot I got yesterday got me out early on account of dizziness. That being said, I’d like to share with you all an irony that I recently discovered about one of my early blogs that I wrote back when 3.0 was still around. I’m referring, of course, to this:

I R 1337ist!

For those of you who haven’t seen this blog of mine, it was a blog of mine that I wrote before I knew about coding in the first place. In it, I expressed my desires to learn how to program, as well as the obstacles that kept preventing me from learning how to do it. When I wrote it, I was certain that I wouldn’t be able to learn, and I wanted everyone to know that. It’s one of those instances where I thought I was asking to learn the impossible, but still wanted to ask just for the sake of asking.

You see, I suffer from something known as a Delayed Learning Curve. This means that things that come to other people fairly quickly take me forever to understand. The good part about it-aside from me being able to figure out if someone’s full of sh*t better than everyone else due to the longer analyzing periods-is that, once I finally figure it out, I progress in that area fairly quickly and often end up surpassing everyone else. Yet the struggle manages to persist while I still don’t understand something, and it tends to make life somewhat of a chore.

The overall response I got was positive. Within an hour, I already had g1s who’d never even heard of me suggesting programs to use in the comments. It was nice to hear such helpful comments from everyone, but I didn’t think I’d be able to learn. It’s interesting to note is that it ended up in an O&U a short while back, and I was even promised a Top-Post that never happened. While I don’t mind about the latter anymore, I ended up having a different blog get Top-Posted instead:

*Sigh*

I wrote this blog as a response to all of the BS complaints and rants I see regularly about games being too easy. Personally, I don’t think it matters, as there are quite a few hard games that I consider a chore to play, (i.e. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask,) as they detract from my enjoyment of them due to them being too difficult. Anyway, it turns out that I came off as way too objectivist in my presentation, and I forgot the source and verify my information. The comments started off good, but…

*Sniff* YOU’RE SO MEAN!

Let’s just say that it wasn’t one of my finer moments! For 2 days I had a massive debate going on in the comments. Every 5 seconds, someone was either calling me an idiot, or defending my position. It seemed as were also mad that it received a Top-Post, (I found out why later,) and many of the people who commented negatively and are still around now have a lot of respect for me. My second-favourite comment came from someone we all know very well:

“Bah! This should be top posted simply due to the fact that this post has gotten the most amount of discussion I've seen in awhile.”

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

However, my favourite comment happened to be a critique of the lack of html tags in my work. That and my response are the sole reason why I didn’t delete it. My response:

Best comment EVA!!!!!!!

Aside from being pleased that I snagged a comment telling me how to improve my work without flaming or getting angry, it also introduced me to the html codes for italics and bolding, 2 tags I’ve spammed the h*ll out of since then. Unfortunately, I wrote a better follow-up blog that wasn’t as popular, but here’s the link to the sh*tty one in case you want to see it:

http://screwattack.com/blogs/Whitlys-blog/RANT-TIME-Are-Games-Too-Easy-Who-Cares

Shortly after this fiasco occurred, I managed to stumble upon this blog:

By the way, you should probably update this thing…

Contained within it were some helpful codes to make a g1’s blog look better. I looked it over and found that, unlike what I’d used before, this was a simple and easy to follow tutorial on how to use html. (Seriously, why couldn’t YOU have been my teacher?!) From this point onward, I’d constantly refer back to this when I wrote new blogs. That’s not to say that I didn’t get confused at times, I did, but it helped me improve my stuff. Unfortunately, I still had one more thing left to learn:

STFU, B*TCH!

Not too long ago, one of the g1s had designated himself the hotlinking police. He’s gone now, but he was rather rude to people who hotlinked. It wasn’t until someone else sent me info on why hotlinking is bad that I stopped and got a Photobucket account. Haven’t done it since! All in all, though my experiences on this site have, ironically, helped me learn to code. I could probably start learning how to make games now, but at this point in time I’d prefer playing them instead: It’s more fun that way!

Now, if the Digg feature can be fixed, we can go back to seeing bad blogs get 1200+ of them!

Hahaha! I kid! (Glares menacingly at it.)

Until next time, this is Whitly saying, “Read, comment and goodnight!”

Super Munkky Novelises A Scene From Dracula 1958

Damn it, I can't find the link to the scene. If anyone can, please tell me. It is the one where we first encounter the bride of Dracula, where she bites Jonathon.

And here is me noveling it, this was English homework so tell me what you think.
.

As I slowly awakened from my dark, sombre sleep a cold chill shot up my spine. Like a swamp in the early hours of the morning the room had a chill about it, one of evil. The sleep itself had not been a pleasant one, my mind had been clouded by visions of dark spirits, swirling in the dank night sky. The castle I now resided in was a central figure in my dreams but I prayed that the fiction I had created within my own mind would not become reality. Although the handle had now stopped moving and an eerie silence overcame me I knew that I had heard the handle moving. My mind wandered back to my nightmares and the idea that a spirit had been trying to open the door seemed almost plausible. I soon pushed these thoughts out of my head, however, and decided to investigate. For all I knew it may have been the count himself trying to contact me about something important and my sudden movements may have give him a fright. Quietly, I slunk over to the door where I opened it up quickly. I no not why I did this, perhaps I believed I would catch whoever was opening my door before he escaped. However, I had no such luck and the corridor was empty. Strange as it may seem, the whole house seemed to be possessed. The walls were dead yet retained an eerie presence about themselves. As I looked down I saw a shadow disappear into a hallway and my heart skipped a beat. The fact that what I had feared and had envisioned in my nightmares may become a reality scared me more than any creature of the night every could.

.

That cold presence again passed over me and seemed to delve into my soul, picking out my worst, most disturbing thoughts and thrusting them to the front of my mind. Despite my entire body trying to stop me I decided that I may as well discover what poor soul has been putting me at such high levels of unrest. I slowly wandered into the large, seemingly empty room where the objects had such a wonder about them I could not help but be drawn in. Slowly, I wandered over to the large globe that lay in the center of the room. I had my attention firmly fixed on it when a woman slammed shut the door and collapsed into my arms. While she was clearly distressed by the situation she had found herself in she seemed to be much more cold than any human I had encountered previously. Her cold, dead eyes seemed to gaze into me, plucking at my deepest and darkest desires. But she was begging for my help and I could not turn her down merely because she seemed to be a little cold towards me. As I held her in my arms she seemed to set her sights on my pulsating neck. While I was fully aware of what she was about to do, I allowed her to continue. There was something about her cold, soulless embrace which captivated me, holding me prisoner within my own body. As she took a small bite a disturbingly familiar figure burst through the door. Twas a face I recognized yet could not associate with any name, the mans eyes were almost glowing with red, his blood ridden mouth clearly looking for a new victim.

.

Remember to tell me what you think. This is Super Munkky signing off, see ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkkys Untitled Reviews: Saw.

Hello and welcome to untitled movie reviews with me, Super Munkky. I still don't see why I have decided to forgive you Screwattack after your **** up with my videos but oh well, like a puppy I can't abuse you with that beautiful lay out. However, I still want to help you guys decide which movies are worth your time, be it DVDs or new releases because you guys are a great community and I love you *group hug*.

.

Now, the film I am reviewing today is a future horror classic that will remembered in the future the same way films like Psycho are remembered in todays society. It will be remembered for either one of two things.

1) Being one of the most original films of the 2000s and having one of the best plots in horror film history, substituting a lot of the usual slasher stuff for a clever, intricate plot that draws in the viewer.

.

Or 2) Starting off one of the most over milked franchises since companies took a look out of succesful 80s horror films and decided to bend them over a pipe before scanning their chocolate stream. 2 was good, 3 was OK but after that I wanted to murder it.

.

But you know, I am going to forget all that and focus on the brilliant film that started it off. Lets just go through the plot as this is one of the biggest draws the film has. The entire film is primarily based around the semi-torture of the characters known as Dr Gordon and Adam who are trapped in a bathroom. They are being held hostage by a deadly trap maker known only by his alias of, “Jigsaw.” It is revealed within the film that Jigsaw gets his jollies from putting people who he feels are undeserving of life within life-threatening traps. He leaves the two main characters tape recordings explaining their, “Games.” Now the way Jigsaw explains what the characters have done wrong is a way of flipping the audiences earlier thoughts on the main characters by explaining their problems. While the audience doesn't quite root for the heroes now as they are indeed bad people they almost pity with them as they are being tortured for mere minor crimes. This means they now can associate with the main villain while still being repulsed by him which now puts the audience in a state of unease. This is also worked well with the fact we don't see the villain....much and so the audience never has any idea who they are associating with. The mini twist with these traps is that there is always a way for the characters to save themselves but to do so they must either endure severe bodily harm or go against their own moral stance. Now the whole films tension is built around the ever looming question of which one of the characters will snap first and try and saw their feet off which is one of the main points of the game as well as provides the title with an adequate reasoning. Now there is also a little side story going on which revolves around the detectives Tapp and Sing trying to take down the character of Jigsaw who is constant misleading them. They never quite garner any idea of who he is, even suspecting our beloved Gordon at one point in the film.

.

Anyway lets talk about something else, namely the so called, “Gore,” in this, “Torture porn epidemic.” Honestly, the film is not that bad compared to a lot of slasher pics of the modern era. The only real gory thing is when you see a close up of the guy hanging on the barbed wire and I would put this in the same level as Nightmare On Elm Street for gore level. There is another gory moment but I do not want to reveal that as it is part of the main twist at the end. Speaking of the twist it is one of the best twists in film history, right up there with the likes of Soylent Green. Because I have to ruin ONE film today and I really don't want it to be Saw I will say this. Soylent Green is PEOPLE. Phew, glad I got that out of my system. Anyway, the whole film is spent playing towards the big finale and, as I have already said, it does not disappoint. It comes out of nowhere and yet manages to make much more sense of the film. Unlike most twists it suits the film perfectly and doesn't just seem to have been popped in for a way of making the film seem more interesting.

.

Now lets talk about the soundtrack for a minute here. It is one of the best soundtracks from a horror film ever. How do I know? It is one of the few I noticed. The songs stuck with me, especially the one that plays during the twist. Whenever I see something surprising the damn thing goes off in my head which shows how much of an impact the music alone had on me. Now the acting in this, considering it is a low budget horror flick, is surprisingly good. I think Cary Elwes, despite a lot of criticism that is thrown his way, is pretty damn good in this but the one that stuck out for me was Leigh Whannel. Not only did he write this but he stars as Adam and does a damn good job for a debut actor. Of course he could improve, especially during the teary moments but other than that it was fantastic.

.

Now, out of fairness to the series I will give a brief summary of my opinions on the rest of the films. Two was pretty good, with a decent plot and a high level of gore. Course I blame the lower plot quality and the increase of gore on good old Darren Lynn Bousman. He wrote a script for an overly gory independent film which was then transformed into a Saw film with the help of Leigh. Unfortunately it doesn't quite capture the atmosphere the original had but it is still a good film in its own rights. Three was OK but they seemed to have ditched the idea of a shocking twist in favor of more shocking gore by this point. The acting in this is some of the worst I've seen in the series and this showed that the series really was in a decline. Four was just terrible, bad acting and they seem to have ditched the whole plot just to have a, “Surprising,” twist at the end which everyone saw a freaking mile away. Shame, because the gore and acting in this one were pretty damn good, the plot just let it down. Five was a step in the right direction, however. It did everything right, acting, gore, plot, atmosphere but one thing let it down as a Saw film in my books. No twist at the end. If it had gone for a twist at the end that made me go, “WHAT IN THE HELL,” the same way the original did then this would be the best. However, this was not the case and now gently sits behind two and the original as the best in the series.

.

In case you can't tell by now I am very much a horror fan, I always try to see the positives in them even if they suck as they are my beloved genre. This is one of the films that allows me to point at it and say, “Scary, intelligent, surprising and great acting. Now what do your pansy little romantic films have?” I love Saw and I really suggest you see it. This is Super Munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkky Unscripted Episode 17: V 4.0 welcome and getting annoyed by 4.0

he video celebrates 4.0, however, I am now a little annoyed by this thing. 4.0 has now become a puppy to me, it looks lovely, acts well most of the time but the minor issues are still pretty irritating. The main one? THE BLOODY PUBLISHING OF MY VIDEOS. The very video I will embed was uploaded about, oh, an HOUR AGO. Yet I have managed to re upload it to blip tv 10 minutes ago and bring it to you. Is that flawed? BLOODY YES. So, if during my video the published one FINALLY turns up then I apologize. But enough *****ing, lets start.
OK SCREW YOU SCREWATTACK. On top of taking WAAAAYYYYY too long to upload my videos I now can't embed my blip tv videos? **** you. I believe a break from blogging may be needed by me to teach you a lesson. Bad dog, BAD. Now, until you learn to stop piddling on the carpet I am afraid you must be neglected.

See ya and happy blogging.

Hello 4.0, please, do come in.

Well this may officially qualify as my shortest blog ever but I guess I need to make one celebrating 4.0 and this can be the start of it. Having looked around the site for a grand total of half an hour I have but one thing to say.

AWESOME

The site is fantastic and is definitely a vast improvement on 3.0. Craig, you should be proud of yourself. Not only have you helped maintain and nurture the best community on the internet, you have also made a site which is worthy of that community. Well done.

I'll see you guys later I guess. For the first time in 4.0 this is super munkky signing off. See ya and happy blogging, video making, image posting and whatever else this heavenly area has to offer.

Now people, you know me. I am generally a modest guy but I have to say I really think this should be top posted. Not because it is amazing quality but because it is a subject so tender that it must be tackled. The g1s opinion is so important and I want to hear peoples opinions on this. That is why I am saying it should be top posted, so this can be addressed by much more of the community. Course, that is just me. See ya and happy blogging.

Super Munkkys Video Reviews: Passion Of The Christ

Sorry for being behind the times but just watched this film today. Also sorry for two things. One, my lisp is much worse in this video because the top of my mouth has burned and is affecting my voice. Second, sorry for using the word disgusting so much but it sums up my views.

Super Munkky Presents: People Are Freaking Idiots.

well, hope that title got your attention but, unfortunately, it happens to be the truth. Some people are freaking idiots and have no problem in shouting it to the world. In this blog I will simply go through some stupid ass things I have seen over the last few weeks and point out the shear stupidity or hypocrisy in their actions or statements. Well, lets kick this baby off with one that really got on my nerves at the time.

I was skateboarding down Birmingham, as I occasionally do on the weekend, when some random old guy started walking past. By old I mean around mid-50s. Anyway, I am skating along when he decides it would be hilarious to kick a rock right into my path. Now, some may argue that this was by accident but this guy was looking where he wanted to kick it and staring at me too. Anyway, I fell off the skateboard and went flying, grazing my knee and such. This guy then walks over to me, looks down and breathes his smoke in my face before saying, “That kind of stuff will kill you ya know.” Now first of all, what kind of stupid ass, sick **** gets his jollies out of making teenagers fall and hurt themselves. If that is where you get your entertainment then please, get yourself help you sick, sick bastard. Secondly, the pure hypocrisy of someone coming over to me, blowing their CIGARETTE smoke in my face and then telling me that I am the one basically killing himself. Really, it just blows my mind how idiotic some people are. I mean, I smoke occasionally but I know that it may eventually kill me and I don't try and be a hypocrite. This guys deserves a well timed pimp slap if you ask me and I hope karma gets him back, the hypocritical ****.

=======================================================================

Jesus Christ this ***** annoyed me to no end, and this one happened on this very website no less. As many of you know there was an, “Incident,” in the comments of the call of duty trailer analysis including a boyfriend and girlfriend. Well I will not name and shame but after much dispute over stuff I threw my hat into the ring, here is what I said.
Hello “Darling”.

if you do not give a damn why did you write that long ass comment complaining about some people on the internet? And to be honest you sound like too much of an arrogant ***** for me to write out a long ass to answer to all the BULL**** you have just posted. young and sexy? Seriously? You are that vain that you think you are sexy. **** off dear, you and your husband are clearly not welcome here. See ya.

Now, she decided not to respond through the comments but instead messaged me this.

Dear 'Super Munkky'
Honestly I do not WANT to be welcome here. All i wanted to do, is put you people in your place, and stop writing truly arrogant crap about my boyfriend. How old are you, 10? Or are you 45 with adult acne? Whatever, it doesnt matter. I know you feel safe and secure behind your computer screen and keyboard, but its 2009, honey, people can figure out who you are. Now this isn't a threat but if you talk to someone else who is truly dangerous the way you just talked to me, you could get yourself in some serious trouble. The reason I wrote a long post was is because I wanted to address all your bull**** comments you wrote to me when I didn't do anything to deserve them. I dont even know where you play into this juvenile posting war. Understand? Now don't you, or any of your little gamer buddies ever ******* talk to me again, or there will be consequences. And yes, I am extremely attractive, you could never get with a girl like me, and I want nothing to do with you or this ridiculous website. Go suck a ****, watch animal porn, pop some of those pimples you have on your neck, I dont care, just dont ******* contact or talk about me, or my boyfriend, AGAIN and I will never come back to this website because you, and this website, is a ******* joke.
Thanks!

Now, let me point something out here to start off with. I never had anything to do with her boyfriend or her dissing the video. If someone doesn't like it I keep myself out of it. However, I do go a little ape**** when hypocritical little ******** who think they are hard attack people over the internet. The pure hypocrisy in her accusing me of being a ***** because I hide behind the internet is a little thing I like to call BULL****. I have never hidden behind the internet and I will say anything on the internet and face the consequences head on. You on the other hand are going around getting your giggles out of pissing people off because you know you are anonymous. Here, just to prove a point my name is Ben, I live near Birmingham England and my phone number is 10768 **** YOU. OK that last part isn't right but you get my point. I am not afraid of some ***** ass little ****s who use the internet to threaten people. So come get me you vain little skank if you really think you can. Oh, and by the way, I seriously doubt anyone who is going to go to the troubles of tracking me down because of something I have said to them on the internet is going to be hard. Move on dear and JOG ON.

Well that is it for this little episode of people who PISS me off, this will probably be my last blog till 4.0 so here it is. This is Super Munkky signing off, see ya and happy blogging.
