Get To Know A G1: Keyboard_Man

Well I have a feeling all of us are becoming a little less familiar with each other so, We Need To Get To Know A G1! Keys is a perfect prospect for his Sweet Segment (Unlocking The Game) and his activeness.

----------------------------------------------------------
Here is Keyboard_Man's Interview

1. Age? Gender?

I am 16 years old, turning 17 on September 23rd and I'm all man.

2. What brought you to ScrewAttack?

Well for what brought me to SA, it's fairly hard to remember exactly. I actually saw the Top Ten Gaming Secrets video way back on GameVideos but never really knew who it was. I also saw some AVGN videos on YouTube. However, it was probably the VGV and Top Ten segments from GameTrailers that brought me to the site. Hell, I didn't even know the AVGN was part of the site 'till I got here back in September.

3. What your favorite piece of your gaming collection?

That is a hard question for me to answer. I'm not a collector of anything rare so I don't have any really special things to brag about. The best I could probably come up with is that I have an Atari Super Pong machine from 1976 in a box at my cottage some place. That's kind of cool, no?

4. Whats you favorite game or games?

Well I'm going to go with the original choice of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. There was an awesome soundtrack, great gameplay, good graphics for the time, and lots of freedom. Is there anything the game didn't have? I also will never grow tired of Resident Evil 2, Battletoads, and the scariest game of all-time: Silent Hill 2.

5. Whats your favorite console?

I'm going new school with the Xbox 360. There are so many good games that I'm not ashamed to admit that I've spent about $3500-$4000 on it altogether. There are just so many great games on the system I can't even list them all. The online is incredible but I honestly don't play it too much (assholes everywhere) unless I'm with friends. The downloadable games from Xbox Live Arcade are just incredible. I have, so far, 55 arcade games, they are that good. Lastly, the controller is perfect and the achievements are more addicting than black tar heroin or hookers.

6. Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in a small town in Ontario, Canada called Beamsville. I think we have a population of about six or seven people.

7. What G1 blogs do you check up on?

I love reading and watching anything by you(DanteElDiablo), Debaser, chefprotoss, Wandering_Swordsman and usually anything in the top posts will get browsed by me.

8. Who's works in other forms of media, do you enjoy?

Hmmm, well there is usually no one person I like but just whatever appeals to me. For Music I'm a huge Van Halen fan due to them having one of the best guitarists on the planet. Don't believe me? Search Eruption by them on YouTube.

9. What are some of your favorite non-gaming hobbies?

I play piano/keyboards quite a bit and do a segment on Debasedtothis.org, which are extremely detailed piano tutorials on videogame music. The goal with the videos is not to show you the most advanced way to play it, but to make it basic so almost anybody can play it while still retaining that classic sound. Other than that, I play a bit of basketball and hang out with some friends.

10. If your life was a comic book or video game what would be your super power or expertise?

My super power would probably be making villains extremely uncomfortable with my surprisingly low amount of masculinity. I'd scream like a little girl and slap at them while talking about Sex and the City.

11. What is your favorite Subject (School)?

I'm a big fan of business and marketing classes. I don't know if it is just universally easy or not, but I just get it and love every moment of it. Accounting also kicks major ass.

12. Who is your favorite game developer?

Well I'd have to go with the developer who has never made a poor quality game: Valve. They may not have made any of my favorite games ever but they do make nothing but AAA titles. Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Team Fortress, Portal, CS, Left 4 Dead. They just can't do any wrong when it comes to game design.

13. Where do you spend most of your time on ScrewAttack?

It's usually a mix of the forums and the blogs. I'll probably check the forums whenever I'm bored but I'll go over the blogs about three times a day looking for a good read/view.

14. Whats you Gamertag? PSN Name?

Gamertag is: Oo Andy5150 oO

15. What game have you spent the most time on?

Probably a tie between Oblivion, which I think I logged about 300 and something hours in, and Resident Evil 2 which I played so much that I could speed run it in about 2 hours or less.

16. Whats your favorite game that came out recently?

The Orange Box and Oblivion are the two recent games I can say are incredible in almost every way. Oblivion will just suck you in and days will go by just playing the game. The Orange Box is just the best gaming compilation of all-time. I would have bought almost all of the games in the package separately at full price. They are just that good.

17. Whats your favorite video game character (that you can relate to)?

I'd probably have to go with Jansen from Lost Odyssey. He's really laid back and just chimes in randomly like myself. I try to never take anything seriously and neither does he.

18. No one knows I can ____ (Fill in the blank) =D?
Drink a can of condensed milk, 7 milkshakes, a baconator, a double big mac, and 20 mcnuggets in the course of 2 days, along with other
food, without throwing up.

19. Whats your favorite Movie?

My favorite movie of all-time is probably Goodfellas directed by Martin Scorsese. That movie is the definition of filmmaking. I could watch that movie three times in one day and not get sick of it. My favorite series of movies is probably the Back to the Future trilogy. I have the theme on my mp3 player and blast it whenever I need to get pumped up.

20. What is one thing that you would change about ScrewAttack?

Let's have less acting from people that aren't actors. I love all the staff of the site but if you aren't a good actor, don't act or it comes out feeling forced and it makes me physically uncomfortable.

21. What could ScrewAttack do to evolve?

Honestly, I have no idea. I love the site, so I guess if they just keep doing what they're doing they will get even better at it, gain more fans, and become bigger and better than ever.

22. What is your least favorite thing about non-gamers?

Whenever they call gaming a waste of time. Guess what, all forms of entertainment are a waste of time. Listening to music, reading, television, film; they all are wastes of time, what makes games any different? Unless you are building orphanages or curing the sick, fuck off.

23. Your name is Keys, so what started you into playing Music?

My cousin was playing piano and my grandmother's house when I was six years old. I sat beside her and played along with her and once we did a full duet of the song Heart and Soul I was hooked. I learn primarily by ear and only took lessons for about a week so I just play a song over until I can copy it on the keyboards perfectly.

24. How is the Medical system in Canada? Have any stories about it?

It is incredible. To all the people in the United States saying universal health care is a bad thing, please explain why. I had a perforated appendix and went to my hospitals emergency room. A doctor saw me in ten minutes and he began doing all the nude physical testing everybody loves (it didn't move, don't worry). So he presses down on my right abdomen and I almost pass out so he tells me after a few more tests I have appendicitis. So I go in for surgery and wake up full of morphine (I don't condone drug use but that stuff kicks ass). So I come home and can barely walk. They gave me some super strength laxative where basically you just sit on the toilet, take a pill, and wait until shit falls out of your ass with you having no control at all. A few days pass and I have a shower with the bandage covering my wound. I get out of the shower and see green puss dripping out of the wound so we go back to the hospital and I have to get emergency surgery to remove the poison. After I wake up for the second time they tell me that they cant stitch me up and have to leave a hole in my side with nurses coming to my home everyday to remove the poison and puss. So after it was all said and done I missed my exams and have a giant scar in my side. So there is the summarized version of my appendix story. Oh and to back up the Canadian Medical System, all of the things that happened in the story cost me $0.

25. If you could go out and eat with five G1's who would they be?
Have you become friends with any G1's?

I would love to go out and eat with DanteElDiablo, chefprotoss (hell he could cook the meal), Debaser, Swordsman, and Canuck. I think all these guys have become my internet pals to some extent, unless they otherwise say so.

26. What is the most challenging Piece of "gaming" music on the Piano? What is your favorite piece?

The most challenging piece of gaming music that I have ever attempted on piano is probably the Athletic theme from Super Mario World for the SNES. My favorite piece of gaming music I can play may be Dire Dire Docks from Super Mario 64. Lastly, my favorite overall piece of gaming music is the Theme of Laura from Silent Hill 2.

Athletic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76Mzb2PuIDI

Dire Dire Docks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqcPSbkS9TQ

27. Some know that you love the Xbox Live Arcade, but what could be done to make it even more amazing?
(some new content for older games {MARBLE BLAST] or Maybe even some remakes)

Well things to make it more amazing are usually thing that will never happen. Being able to put games from other systems on the arcade as long as they were not first party developed, like Goldeneye (N64) from Rare. Content for older games would be nice as Marble Blast Ultra is one of the best arcade games available on the service but everybody is so sick of the same 60 levels that nobody plays it anymore. Also, let's see more Mega Man 9 treatments where they do a classic installment of a classic game. Other than that they are doing a great job with the service.

28. Do you believe Achievements are a good selling point for a multi-platform game?

I would never have thought that people would choose the 360 version of a game over the PS3 for achievements, but the more I read the more I see that's the case. So I'm inclined to say yes, achievements do sell 360 games over PS3 games.

29. Would you consider yourself a 2d Gamer or 3d? Why?

I'm a 3D gamer for sure. While I enjoy a classic 2D game they just don't have what it takes to match up with today's free roaming 3D worlds and adventures such as Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, and GTA III and up, compared to the classics of each series.

30. What do you think is going to become of Mega Man 9? Will it be the Best, or just fall in the OK category?
What are you excited to see? Just tell us all about it.

Well I was excited about it until I played the original recently and realized how hard it will be. I think it won't be extremely well received as people complain about difficulty and lack of multiplayer these days. Plus did you see those achievements? Beating the game without getting killed once? Yeah right.

31. What is the best environment (Time) to game and your favorite person(s) to play games with?

I love to game late at night and I love playing with my friends just to talk. I also love playing with my XBL friends to speak to people who are as passionate as I am about gaming.

32. What are some of the best things to happen to the gaming World?

1. Mario
2. 3D
3. Ocarina of Time

33. Do you fall under any stereotypes that are made for gamers?

I'm probably the nerd. I love reading up on gaming news and talking about it with friends so they think because I know certain things that all I do is play and research videogames.

34. Has a game soundtrack or song moved you to tears? (600 AD has made me come close)

Like I said above the Silent Hill 2 song Theme of Laura just has so much emotion in it that it is an incredible song. I think that if you put lyrics over it, it could be a chart topping song, that's how good it is.

35. What are some of your favorite things about Canada? (I love the Anthem) [O CANNNNNNNNADAAAA]

1. Poutine - fries covered in gravy and cheese curds.

2. Not having to worry about being attacked because we're right next to you guys and you're like that big kid in the playground who protects us.

3. Medical System - Free Health Care.

4. No Guns = Less Deaths

36. Where do you see yourself in 20 years? [Dont say "In the Mirror"] Do you think you will always be a gamer?

I honestly hope I will always game and will try to keep it as a main part of my life. But really, who knows what could happen.

37. Do you enjoy a good Man sandwich?

Hell yes!

38. What Inspired you start Unlocking The Game?

Debaser and I had been forum pals for quite a while and I wanted to do something cool for his site so I figured that since my only real talent is piano I decided to share that with people. Also I was a little jealous everybody was making shit for the site and I wasn't … not to sound like a prick or anything.

39. What do you plan on doing in the future with UTG?

I recently injured my hand so I am taking a little time off but I'm trying to pick between Dire Dire Docks, Chemical Plant Zone, Vampire Killer, Mega Man 3 Title, and the Street Fighter 2 Intro. All of which are just amazing tunes.

40. What is your favorite memory you have had with gaming?

Beating Ocarina of Time ranks at the top of that list. It was the first game that I beat and wanted to see the story continue or at least play it again. God Damn, that game is good!

41. Whats the most nostalgic piece of gaming for you?

I'd have to go with the recently released Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I know it isn't old but the soundtrack for that game is a collection of redone classics from almost every awesome NES-N64 game you can think of. Whenever I play it I pick a level based on the music that will play, not how good the level actually is.

42. Do you have any guilty pleasures related to gaming? (Mine is Pokemon)

I'm a bit of a Cho Aniki fan. Unfortunately the game has not been released on the NA virtual console. Never heard of Cho Aniki before? Here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cho_Aniki

43. Do you have any nitpicks about other peoples content?

The standard stuff mostly, just take your time and make whatever you do incredible or don't bother. Also if you get negative criticism don't argue, make your next piece of content better.

44. What is the most outrageous thing you thought was true as a kid
but once you look back at it now you feel like a total dumbass?

Hmmm, I did think that from the 60's and prior, the world was black and white like the films.

45. What do you look forward to see in SA, the G1's Content, and Gaming overall?

I hope SA keeps going strong for years and continues to make awesome content. I am no blogger so I can't insult anybody, but if you watch or read your blog and think it is anything other than the best quality content you can produce, don't be pissed when other people don't like it. As for what I want to see in gaming, hopefully just another year like the last full of incredible games.

Is there anything you would like to say to the community?

I hope you guys go visit Debasedtothis.org and check out all the awesome features and join the forums. I'm not asking you to abandon SA, as this place is the best site in the world, but we need some god damned forum members!

Is there anything you would like to comment on about your content and DTT?

I love the site and am so happy to be putting out content with incredible writers and filmmakers and I hope the site will continue to grow and expand and get more awesome content.

Free Healthcare up here is

Free Healthcare up here is good until you have to start paying taxes... I wish we had the choice between Public and Private Health Care.

So you would rather pay

So you would rather pay 15,000 dollars for a broken leg, then have your taxes pay for it? Hospitals in the states garnish wages and bankrupt people left and right. Ohh, that 15,000 dollars, that's just for a broken leg, if you need major surgery... well, you'll have to choose between that and that shiny new Lamborgini you obviously can afford.

Health insurance companies don't like giving hospitals money. So don't be suprised when your insurance company says that you don't need that life saving surgery. People die because of that all the time here in the states. It's not suprising though, when health care is run like a busness(or like Wall Street), the people on top profit, and the people on the bottom(average Joe dumbass) lose out.

High taxes suck, but they won't bankrupt or possibly kill you.

That's why I think there

That's why I think there should be a choice between having to pay a medical bill or a higher tax. Some people can afford to pay medical bills. Other people don't. Even if you do pay 15k for a broken leg, you don't have to wait six hours in a waiting room (I had to wait almost 16 hours before I had work done on my broken arm), and it balances out over time. Like I said, it depends on your financial situation. A choice between one or the other would work fine.

You're not serious, you can't be

i think you can go to a private medical center if you want, but anyways you have to pay the taxes that make public health care free. That way, whenever you're rich or not, you don't have to worry for your injuries or diseases, you can live a peaceful life knowing you won't get poor for an accident.

Also, if people could choose not to pay taxes, much less money would be there for universal health care and other social benefits and it wouldn't be possible.

quote:"Even if you do pay 15k for a broken leg, you don't have to wait six hours in a waiting room" -by Metroid on Fri, 08/22/2008

¿¿¡¡WHAT THE FUCK!!?? you would rather pay 15.000$ than waiting 6 hours? it's 2500 bucks/hour that you're saving. How much do you earn per hour?

US is the only 1st world country without universal health care. that's sad, specially when people start thinking it's the best country in the world (only to discover that if they sever a finger it can cost them 60.000$ to reattach)
go see Michael Moore's film "Sicko" (little cheesy but very good)

Governments should be afraid of people, and not the other way. (French are very good on this, Let's sever some kingdom heads!!!, oh, yeahhh!)

Here in Canada

There's people thinking the US is the best country in the world? (Kidding...) Well it's not my favourite country because mine is. There's not as much censored shit as everywhere in the world and we don't have to pay for health care. YEAH I'M A FUCKING QUEBECKER! What!? You don't know what a Quebecker is? Well it's the French (Yes ! I'm not really speaking Enlgish in real life) part of Canada and even if they are always saying that we are a ''pain in the ass'' (We were there before you motherfucker!) when we try to separate they always say that they love us...

I'm not a fan of Michael

I'm not a fan of Michael Moore because his films have too much of a liberal bias. Anyhow, personally, I can't afford to pay 60 thousand to re-attach a severed finger at once, but it works for some people. The health care system works for the most part, yes, but it is still flawed to a degree. I mean, you're paying for the injuries sustained by idiots who ride motorcycles down the highway without helmets going 20 miles an hour over the speed limit if you think about it. Not that I would want the guy to die or anything, I just think he should compensate by paying a fine. Also, 6 hours could be a matter between life and death, and if that means that I owe 50k for life saving emergency surgery which I get immediately, well then I'd hold life over money any day. Anyhow, most people would opt for public, so they would still rake in a lot of funds. I think it could work though.

Dude, I live right outside

Dude, I live right outside D.C. and our waiting rooms are packed. I don't know where you get your info, but it's wrong. Of course Michel Moore has a bias to his films, HE'S A GIANT LIBERAL FIGHTING FOR PEOPLE'S RIGHTS!

The EPIC Double Mac, Free

The EPIC Double Mac, Free Health Care, a sport where you push a heating iron with a broom somewhere. What don't you guy's have? Ohhh yeah, the NFL and relavence on a global scale. Don't your police ride around on mooses?

i like canada cus of colin

How do you get interviewed?

How do you get interviewed? do you have to fill some kind of certain criteria, like have been on the site for a certain amount of time or have so many posts? something like that

i to

would like to know this

THE INSTRUCTIONS

Ok,I'll settle this for Dante. These are the instructions in steps.

1. Ask Dante in a PM if you can be interviewed.
2. If he wants to review you,he will send you a PM back with all the questions.
3. Fill the questions out and send them to Dante.
4. Dante puts the interview up.

Ok?

Get To Know A G1: Insight

Haha sorry all for the un-responce =D, here is the inside scoop of the shin-dig of, Get To Know A G1.

1. Alright you can send me a PM, email or some other way to contact me.
2. I'll look over what you do, and some of the thing you need to ask yourself are.

Do I flame other members for no reason (That is a I hope you don't do this)

Do I provide VERY ORIGINAL CONTENT to SA and make it my best to get in contact with my viewers and others that show interest in my content

If I am going to criticize someone will it be a well thought out comment and not some thrown together insult just to make your self look like a cool dude because you got to insult someone on the interwebz

All I am trying to get to is that if you are a great member of the SA community I'll have a interview with you some point in time. (A big thing a get alot of emils about are "Do i have to do blogs to get interviewed" no that is not it I just want to see something in you.

Also if you make a good ole gamingsean is a post whore ill throw you at the bottom of the list (and I mean I have also got around a billion [over exaggeration] emails about how could you ever interview gamingsean he is such a post whore, the last time I checked he got his post count down and manned up for what he did. And If he keeps his word I will admire that from him.
(What I am also trying to get to here is that you respect the ones I interview and provide your respect to all the rest of the community, I really dont care if they are only in the 6th grade we all can act like adults to some extent)

3. Ill send you a PM asking if you would like to be apart of the interview, If you say no then the process stops here

4. I Then WRITE a entire interview personalized specifically to YOU, no one else. I really hate seeing the same people answer the same question over and over again.

5. Then the ball rolls from there (and I mean Katamari) in which I try my best to get in contact with all of those that show interest with the Get To Know A G1 column, also I really suggest that the interviewee to get involved with the people that are reading the interview.

I hope this clears up all the rumors about the Get To Know A G1's, so now everyone get your thought straight and start being and growing into a better community every day.

Also Since school is started back (the reason why my blogs have slowed down, I will focus on the blogging on the weekends where I have a little more free time.

And if you have any questions thoughts or comments send them to in a PM, I tell you now I love nothing more than Women, Comments and PM, so as I say this send away people.
