A few days ago, after unearthing my lost copy of Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain for the ps2, memories of playing the game online rushed back to me and I became incredibly excited to experience the game once again. I plugged in my ethernet cord to my ps2 and away I went, starting the game as usual. Everything was going normal until right before the level select screen, I got a network error. So I tried again and again getting the same error until it hit me...Sony had closed their online service for the game. A part of me died that moment, as I thought back to all the fun I had playing one of my all time favorite shooter series online with my friends, and total strangers, and knowing that I could never experience it again.
I know that it seems like I'm making a big deal of something foolish, but it really makes you miss the good old days. Hopefully whoever develops the future games in the series can add some cooperative online play as interesting as the Omega Strains was...

Sometime last year or the year before, I bought BOTH Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File #2. I knew I didn't really like them, but I'm a collector for certain series, and I needed the games. Not to mention, a friend of mine played them quite often. So I turn the game on and play a few rounds with him...about 3 rounds. Well 2 or 3 days later, CAPCOM cuts the service. I haven't even touched the games since then.

Omega Strain? Really?
Omega Strain, can't knock the online b/c i'vr never played it but Syphon Filter Omega Strain was such a horrible 1P game to me (absolutley love every other Syphon, though) I seriously brought it back to K-Mart and gave the BIGGEST bull-shit story on how I couldn't even play the game because the controls were so bad (not all bull-shit, come to think of it) and they bought it b/c they were old and I got my prized $40 back.

My thoughts exactly on Omega Strain. The SP was broken and frustrating, because it was meant to be an online only game, the SP was added later and wasn't fully finished.

That sucks. I only got to play it online for awhile before I took off home to move into my dorm which meant no more online gaming. I found Omega Strain to be really fun online but most of the time I would get people that either didn't have headsets or didn't want to talk.
I hope sometime in the future they make a PS3 Syphon Filter with online play!
