what are the implications of this? And what are these "unique factors"?

Neither the publishers nor the ESA would describe the "unique factors" that lead to LucasArts' withdrawal, but the publisher's departure comes as a blow to an organization that appears to be losing support (direct support, at least) from some of its biggest backers.
