Views of a SNES fanboy

I've been gaming for most of my life now. The first game I have ever played was some Tetris clone on a then-awesome 40-MHz-PC running on DOS. That was in 1987. Sure, the Nintendo Entertainment System had been out for two years already, and the original Super Mario Bros. came around the corner slapping everone in the face with its awesomeness, but somehow I felt more comfortable in the field of "PC gaming". VGA colours, man. That was the shit. Back then, I was blind enough to overlook that good graphics don't make a good game. I was little, so pretty colours were more important to me than smooth controls or even overall gameplay.

Then came the 16-bit-era; home computers couldn't compete with the audiovisually superior home consoles anymore. That was when I abandoned my beloved PC and traded it in for a Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I loved it. I still love it. It is the best console ever crafted by perky Japanese hands. Its technically superior successors, the N64, the Gamecube and even the Wii are pale and lovelessly cobbled pieces of Wednesday afternoon entertainment compared to the divine SNES, offering state-of-the-art gaming experience every time you pushed the power button up, and it still does. And that is why the Super Nintendo has still defended its place on my wall unit next to the XBOX 360, the Wii and the Playstation.

SNES for the win

I also think that the SNES is the best console of all time. Theres so many great games.

SNES ftw indeed

The NES had about 800 games, but about 80% were really crappy. Nintendo figured that if you release fewer games, the good game - bad game ratio evened out a little bit.
