Boco Gear's Gaming Gems: Episode 3: Super Metriod

Okay first off I should really start getting these updates out earlier in the day. Also I am finally doing the one game I forgot to put onto my top 10 list of best SNES games.

If you guys didn't look at my Top 10 list of my favorite SNES games you don't know this but I omitted one great game from it...well 2 but I am doing my update on this one in particular. And that game is...DRUM ROLL *attempts a drum roll* SUPER METROID!

I warn some of you there maybe slight spoilers in here so I have warned you before you move on to finish reading this blog entry.

To start off...this game is a must play for those who like playing older games and all those people who have Wiis...get on those Wii Shop Channels and get this game for your Virtual console. If you really like Samus and wanna know where she became big this is one of the games that helped it happen. Right from the title screen you feel the eeriness that is Metroid. I personally loved being immersed in the world of our heroine and the brilliantly amazing landscapes from the surface of Planet Zebes to the molten caverns of Norfair and from there to the final showdown in Tourian.

The upgrades in this game are amazing and there were a lot of new additions to the arsenal of weapons Samus just so happens to find on Planet Zebes. What I really liked was the fact that you could mix and match the beams together to get some pretty neat combinations. Also the difficulty of this game was challenging but not always noticeable because you are really enjoying this powerful game. And even better for those people who had played the original Metroid you now had the ability to shot on diagonals now which was a pretty good improvement.

Now this is gonna sound weird and funny at the same time but I feel that Mother Brain was kind of a lesbian because when you get her to the low point of her health she tries to finish you off with this rainbow colored beam. Now if that didn't give it away I don't what did...maybe the incredibly bad PMS she has towards Samus.....did something happen between them? Also what i never understood was....HOW THE HELL DID MOTHER BRAIN GET A BODY.....all you see is the brain hit the ground..then BAM a body emerges from out of no where! Can someone explain this it isn't like she went off screen at all it happened right before out very eyes....as great of a boss battle as it was that battle brought so many questions to mind...these being only two of them...or maybe it really only was these two questions...Either way it is something to think of. But yes this game has a special place as a Gaming Gem because of its sheer awesome factor and how great and challenging of a game it was. (By the way that lesbian joke I pulled earlier I really hope no one was offended by it I was just stating an observation...my observation I just hope it didn't offend anyone.)

And that is all for this week's installment of Gaming Gems please stop by my thread in the forums and drop a line maybe a suggestion of a game you may feel deserves to be in a Gaming Gems installment.

Well good night or morning everyone hope you enjoy the episode.
