how in fuking hell

do u not know wat genre mario is?

here is some advice

advice 1. you should have done this on the forums it would have made discussing easier and it would be more likely to be read and replied to.

anyway. are you going to do an ign review like review or a book summary/ review or a retrospective. anyway id suggest you to watch the retrospective on game trailers its got good details.
and one thing you could get as an advantage is talk about the mood in the game and how it develops. how the music and cut scenes is used to make an emotional effect on the player.

the most important thing of FF9 is the depth of the characters. talk how the characters made you feel for them and the character development takes place while not making it too deep that it will make the game complicated or too shallow at the beginning.

Example. vivi is the first character you actually play and the has the most shallow beginning. but because you play as him and do puzzles and mini games you don't hate him when he just listens to the rat and be a wuss. but towards the game you get to like the character with his great abilities and just love and really feel his emotional "emoistic" story.

for zidane you like him because he and Tantalus are cool at first. but he is rather shallow because all he thinks is women but because dagger is an interesting person trying the leave her mother, you try to find out what will happen between them which makes thir stories interesting.

Don't Be A Fanboy

* Play/replay the game before you reviwe so you have a clear idea what the games like.

* Read other reviews to see what kind of structure they use.

* Don't Be A Fanboy, no one want to read a review thats not objective. Say what you like and DISLIKE about the game and how it compares to other games in the series/genre

Try something simpler, think Megaman or something xD

Men, if there was a course like that arround here I would definitely check it out.

Now, as advice, I would say that you should have chosen a easier game to review. Not only is a prety deep game in almost every way by itself (story, gameplay, grafics, sound...), but you have also to think about its predecessors. And cmon, its FF IX, so you have a lot of backtracking to do.
I understand that you want to be unique and not go like the rest of your class mates and review the latest FPS, Im fine with that, but going the way you are isnt the right one. Try something simpler. A game doesnt need to be very complex to be interesting. To make a review interesting, thats almost completely up to you.

PS: by the way, is you class in general like those that you mentioned? If they are, them I am truly sorry for you.

I wrote a paper my first

I wrote a paper my first year in college reviewing FFXI.

First of all, I just want to say that don't mind what other people are doing. It will only distract you from your own work.

About reviewing a game..
There are the obvious point you want to talk about: graphics, music and sound, gameplay, innovations, presentation, replay value, etc..

But when you're writing a college level paper you need to have a thesis. "Final Fantasy IX was the greatest role-playing experience on the PlayStation because......" or "Final Fantasy IX was an underrated game ......" Be creative.

You should definitely talk about the makers of the game. What's important is, what did he do that makes this game stand out from the rest? Why is this Sakaguchi's favorite game? Do your research on it. I'd watch gametrailers' FF retrospectives and look up various sources on the game's developers.

In the end, don't just say "FFIX was good because it has the best graphics for a FF and it brought back the old-school style." Explain what makes the graphics stand out and why is bringing back the traditional Final Fantasy style significant to other series in the genre. Make sure you always touch on both sides of an argument. Hope that helps :)

I forgot to tell this

If there is too much stuff to write about screw most of those and concentrate on the things that are important to you and what is the selling point of FF9. many rpgs have great graphics on the PS1 but as Se7enthMoon said it is the favorite of Sakaguchi and try to talk more about that. your review will definitely be very different and very different from what the teacher will expect but the teacher could enjoy something more interesting and different
