Yeah, I said it. New gamers these days are bitches. I've finally gotten my dirty hands on Megaman 9, and just like Stuttering Craig, I love it. I love the old school difficulty. At the beginning I realized one thing...and this happened after I died like 10 times...I was a hell of a lot better at this when I was younger.
Yes, I do believe that those of us who were playing the NES during our early years are better skilled. As long as you played lots of games, you learned patience, reflexes, and wit. Every time I died, I got pissed because I know that if I had played this when I was younger I wouldn't have much of a problem. Megaman 1 is still the hardest BTW. I don't think any of the other games are harder, but there is still a clear difference between Megaman 1 and the rest of the series.
So far, I've gotten past all the bosses except Plug Man using just the Mega Buster. Yes, I want my achievement. If you think this game is hard as nails though...you're a bitch, and you need to finish this and then go to something harder...like the NES Ninja Gaidens.
My friends and I touch base on this and other subjects on our blogcast. One of my friends is a big Fable 2 fan...I feel so bad for him for all the stuff that's been taken out so far...but anyways...if you're interested, go here:

Sounds good, ill be checking
Sounds good, ill be checking out your Podcast very soon, although i disagree with you, any new gamer, although im not, could pick up Mega Man 9 as easy as we could.
-- God Bless.
Yeah it's hard
I wasn't around during the NES era (I came in at the SNES) so I never got to really experience the originals properly *coughromscough*.
I have to say though, I do like the challenge the game brings. It may force me to play the same stage over and over, just to realise that the boss will hand me my ass because I have the wrong weapon (why isn't Splash Woman weak to electricity?) but it's so fun anyway.
And Plug Man was the first one I took out. He's simple to beat with the Mega Buster.
I've played the NES Mega Man
I've played the NES Mega Man games while growing up, but when I got MM9 I thought to myself, "I must be out of practice."
With a little patience I got to the Final Boss. Then I realized something - I've never completed a Mega Man game. Usually because I never owned one - just played it at a friend's.
So right now Wily phase 1 is where I'm stuck. :(
