Hello everyone,
It has been some time since I mentioned the ScrewStrike project. For those who do not know, it was to be a series of stories involving the staff. Mel Rains and hate_breeder created an extremely beautiful cover art for the first episode and the original story was supposed to be released.. 3 weeks ago.
With my video projects, personal life and me personally thinking the story was too long or needed improvements, I decided to not release it thus far. The basic question is whether or not this community feels like sitting down to 10 or 15 pages once in awhile to read.
I have been speaking with Canuck about his RPG games that he has and is creating for the ScrewAttack and it got me thinking. I also have been developing games for the same program series for a long time. This led to us discussing whether or not he would be ok with the idea I am about to propose.
Would you guys rather sit down and read the story I have written, or would you prefer to see it visually? I am not even sure if it is a "game" persay as some of the content revovling around the story would put the staff in "non-rpg" environments but I am still working on how that would work.
So yea, please give me yout thoughts on it. If you all decide on the game, then I can begin producing that right away as the script is done and so is the planning. If you decide on story, I will be releasing it sometime after my crap with the Tokyo Game Show ends.
Thanks for your time and I apologize to Mel and hate_breeder for the delay in ScrewStrike.
tsrif
I can't wait for ScrewStrike it sounds kick ass. The improvments in the story would be nice.
A game version
A game version would be totatlly cool and even though most people wouldn't bother reading it, there may be a few who either dont have the time, or the attention span to read it all.
if you can pull it off, go for the game....it would be better in the long run.
Agreed
I agree hate_breeder. Actually, your epic art piece has been my wall paper for the last month. It'll end up being the title screen of the game instead. If you are interested in helping with things for a game version if we take that route then it would be great. I can explain what i'd need so that the title art, and in game represented art could match. Wouldn't take a crazy amount of effort either.
I am overly confident I could pull off the game as I have made about 10 games in the past.

How amusing... is that all you can muster?

yeah man
yeah man, if you need anything just let me know and i'll see what i can whip up.
Too true
I agree as well. A game would be better to captivate people's attention in the long-run. I think either would still be awesome though.

The story at large
Alright, so for those who keep messaging me about it, here is a brief summary of what "ScrewStrike" is.
Essentially its a story revolving around the main staff of ScrewAttack.com. By some particular means, the crew is thrown into a yet to be revealed game world. Upon realizing where they are, they also come to find out that the world has changed as a result of their and perhaps someone elses presence.
Imagine if Ganon had obtained knowledge that some old guy in a cave had planned to give Link a sword which would eventually lead to his downfall. Ganon could then take the initiative of whacking the old man and thus Link never receives his sword and gets captured. This is just an example of world tampering.
The crew must find their way out of the game world but will their way out lead home or will it lead to another game world? This is the premise for ScrewStrike.
I cannot and will not share what is currently written (sorry ADDatwork :-p) but I do believe I have decided to go ahead with a game. It'll be more fun but the thing to remember is that the game is not so much about gameplay as it is about presentation of the story. So yea, the game serves the story, not vice versa.
The program being used will be that of the RPG Maker series and I have no intentions of coding a custom battle system (takes months to make a great one) for the purpose of selling a story series. I'll consider what is possible though so that you can enjoy the game.
g1s, interns and others will be making an appearance in the story/game so if you'd like to see yourself, just let me know.

Maybe you could take some
Maybe you could take some fighting moves from the Super Smash Brothers Clip of the Week XD
The gods don't seem to favor me, but I kinda like it better that way.-Final Fantasy XII
What does the ScrewAttack staff think?
What do you guys think? A side view battle system though regardless of the story it would be turn based for time sake, or a frontal view image only representation of you?
Using side view means using the default sprites, but I think I could make some excuse as to why.
