Keep in mind that Ermac is an urban myth in video games. His origins are a mystery but widely accepted as being related to a glitch in the original Mortal Kombat arcade game. According to the MK history books, Ermac's first appearance was in the arcade version of the original Mortal Kombat. Some bizarre glitch in the game pitted you against a peculiar mix of the two MK ninjas: Scorpion and Sub Zero. He allegedly had the abilities of both ninjas and his suit color gave of an odd looking orange glow. It's widely believed that the game threw an "ERROR MACRO" code... ERMAC for short and placed that as the new characters name. People thought for a while that it was just a prank pulled by Gamepro: That's most likely a fake. People claimed they actually witnessed the glitch for themselves and fought the mysterious ninja. Lately, people with MAME claim to have been seeing him too. Of course, this caused a bit of controversy. When Mortal Kombat 2 was released, there was a cryptic message hidden in the game: "camre soed ton tsixe" or "ermac does not exist". The ninja Jade would randomly appear and say "Ermac who?" but the developers continued to deny his existence, which only fueled the fire. He finally appeared in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, as an official, playable character utilizing telekinesis and returned in Deception on the side of good, with his own story and significance in the MK universe. Of course, this is all just a myth. It may or may not be true, but still interesting.
