State of the Website Address Transcript

In case you missed it g1s here is a transcript of what was talked about during the State of the Website Address.
"My fellow g1s,
In just four short years we have done some amazing things. Things that people said we would never be able to do - downloaded over 250 million times, started not just one but two gaming events in SGC and Ghouls and Games and even opened our unique video game store. While all those are outstanding accomplishments the one that I'm most proud of is that we have built an incredible community that is second to none. One built on fun... friendship... and or course games. It's a true testimate to every g1 over the last 4 years and their contributions no matter how big or how small to making ScrewAttack what it is.
We have some incredible plans for ScrewAttack in 2010. Obviously as we move closer and closer to the summer SGC will be on a lot of people's minds and we can't wait to spend a weekend of bad assery with the thousands of g1 who are going to attend. To say that you will have something to do every second of the day is an understatement - whether it's a konga line with Keith Apicary, the ScrewAttack dating game, attending the Q/A with Uwe Boll or just hanging back with other g1s as you root for your country in the World Cup, we will have something for everyone.
But this isn't a state of the "awesome live event that you can hang out with your friends" address... this is a State of the Website Address so let's talk about the greatest gaming website in the world.
A little over two months ago we started an experiment. An experiment we liked to call "version 4". Now since it's launch it's been met with mixed reviews... some like it, some hate and some... just have no idea what to do with it. We've given you technology to be seen by the thousands of g1 who come to ScrewAttack on a daily basis and many of you have taken that opportunity and ran with it. We love being an outlet to where you can be seen and definitely will continue to be one. While that will continue to be there for you there, we have heard you, and there will be some changes.
First and foremost look no further than how you see our content every day - our video player. You have said "what is with all these ads" and we 100% agree with you. We are currently working at reducing the number of ads you see prior to videos with a number of options including a restricted cap per day. In addition to a change in the frequency of the video ads we are also in the process of removing all expandable ads in the traditional ad space on ScrewAttack. What this means is, when you come to ScrewAttack to see our content you'll actually be able to see our content. And while I can't promise that you won't see ads when you come to ScrewAttack I can promise that we are doing our best to deliver the best g1 experience possible.
Speaking of content, you'll be seeing a few changes to the navigation to the site so you can find the content you want quicker ...
1) an easier to use navigation bar for g1 created content
and
2) ScrewAttack content will now be featured front and center as you scroll down the main page similar to what you saw on Version 3.
And while we're talking about Version 3, something that the community really embraced is going to return - February 14th with mark the return of g1 Submission Sunday allowing the ScrewAttack staff's favorite piece of content - whether it's a video, blog or anything else you can think of - over the previous week to be featured for an entire day on the main page. You will also see some additional changes to our regular programming line up. Now, if you've been to ScrewAttack this week, you've seen the phrase "Back to the Basics" on the header ... well one of the most basic things we've done ever since ScrewAttack's first day is updating our daily content at Midnight CST and that changed with the launch of Version 4 to Noon... but starting tonight we will also be returning to that as well. We truly are going back to the basics... and we're very excited about it.
All you forum goers, don't think we have forgotten about you. Over the coming weeks you will see some great changes - some small, some big - all geared towards making using the forums as easy as possible. And while we're talking forums - stop with this ridiculous "forum vs blog" crap. There's no reason to categorize yourself... we are ALL g1s.
Now ever since the start of ScrewAttack we've made no secret that this whole thing is built around you. We love an active community and we want to do things that involve you as much as possible. One of our staples has been ScrewAttack Gamedays where ScrewAttack staff compete against you live in a number of games online... the only problem? Not everyone could be involved. Coming later this month we'll be introducing the next step in competition versus our community - the ScrewAttack Throwdown. You'll can find more details here (http://screwattack.com/videos/ScrewAttack-Throwdown) about this unique opportunity for every g1 to work together and allow EVERYONE to benefit by doing so. Be ready... cause the competition is going to get fierce.
Now as cool as the ScrewAttack Throwdown is, there is one last thing that I'm extremely excited to announce... you've heard us talk about... you've seen trailers for it... and soon you'll finally be able to experience it for yourself. Coming in May, you will be able to find Eddie Lebron's master piece of a fan film - Mega Man - exclusively on ScrewAttack. The Blue Bomber is going to blow you away. See the trailer here(http://screwattack.com/videos/Mega-Man-Movie-Trailer-1) Speaking as someone who has seen it, Mega Man is the way a video game film should be made.
I couldn't be more proud of the last 4 years and I can't wait to experience the next 4 with you g1s. We're a big family here at ScrewAttack and while sometimes brothers and sisters may get at each other every once in a while, let's just remember that we all love each other in the end. Let's continue to build this and welcome new g1s in with open arms and let them experience the greatness that we all have experienced. You all are the role models for them and all future g1s. We're doing something extremely special here and I couldn't be more proud of every one of you."

That was the one kinda bad bit of news that didn't get addressed, g1 Spotlight will be going on hiatus after this week so we can look at ways to improve the show.
