Sitoxity Blogs - Forza Motorsport 3

By Sitoxity on October 26, 2009, 12:02 pm

Hello, and welcome to another Sitoxity Blog. This time I'm going to be talking about Forza Motorsport 3. This is not a review, or a first impressions. This is just so I can talk about the game, what I think of it, what I've been doing in it, and what I plan to do in the future, as well as playing it, of course.
First, a little update of goings on. :) <---Previously on the Blogs---> The Sitxoity Blogs - Fanboys Gaming Ramblings 5 - Bonus Update! The King of Fighters XII - First Impressions Halo 3: ODST - My Take <---Square-Go Articles---> Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Review The King of Fighters XII Review For the love of... Sonic And Knuckles Preview: MAG Now that that's done with, onto the blog! Be aware, all screenshots are taken from ForzaMotorsport.net and were all created by myself. All but one of the designs (the Evo) are my own.

Last Friday, I recieved Forza Motorsport 3 (and Borderlands) through the mail. I had ordered the Limited Collectors Edition, as I managed to find it almost at the same price as the game itself. The box it came in is quite nice. Very stylish. I'm not here to go on and on about the packaging though, this is all about the game itself. I've been playing this game a lot. I mean, I'm hardly ever off it! When I am on Forza, I'm not even doing that many races. I've been doing a couple of "weeks" of races in-between, but that's just for money and other things. The first couple of days, I played around with just designing patterns on a couple of cars, and buying ones I like, taking photos during races, and just looking at all the features in the game.

I did spend quite a long time playing around with the photo tool, just seeing what I could do, and taking some nice looking pictures, but that wasn't as much time as I spent in other features, and there is a lot of other things to do in this game. Even just looking at the stats pages there is a ton to do, whether it be during a race or not. You defiantly get value for your money with this game.

The first three cars I bought myself, rather than being gifted from racing, consisted of a Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and a Nissan Skyline. I designed some decals for them, and put one I liked onto the Storefront. This is where my time is now spent. I liove playing with designs for cars, even just for Vinyl groups, for logos and such. The first design I did upload, which was for the Skyline, was bought immediatly. I felt very proud about this. I felt like someone liked my work, and it motivated me to get better and create even more work. Here it is, I called it "Sitoxistripe1" to be completely original, haha.

I do however, feel overwhelmed, as the ability of other players is staggering. While I sit making abstract pieces without meaning to look like anything other than looking good on a car, other people are recreating cartoon and anime characters with the same precision as they're drawn in the real world. It really is insane. I try not to let this get to me, as I never really was interested in recreating things, but creating. I like my original designs, it's what I love doing, and each day I'm improving, picking up new tips I see around and just experimenting. I can only get better.

Mainly today and last night, I've been trying to play the auction house. I looked up a few cars, looking to buy, and saw a lot of people selling, all looking different. That gave me the idea to buy cars, upgrade them, and paint them. That way people can buy cars in a category they want, without having to bother upgrading, and have a nice paintjob with it. So far, I only have two up. A '96 Dodge and another Lancer Evo. The Evo even has a simple subtle flame efect I was playing with to make it look slightly 3D. I felt it was quite good, and I look forward to see how much people bid for it. Playing the Auction House is a tough game. Earlier today I got stuck in a bidding war for a '99 Lancer Evo 6. It went on for over 5 minutes, back and forth, but I eventually got it. I was very happy, although I ended up paying almost 100,000cr for it. It can be very unforgiving, but if you find out what people want, and like, you'll do well. I'm still finding my way, but I do hope I'll be able to figure out some way to play the auctioneer. Here's a picture of the car in question:

It's actually surprising when I notice how long I've been painting or just looking around in the storefronts, but when I do notice, I decided to go race. Particularly if I need money for a reason, like my idea for the auction house. After getting a few annoying tracks (damn tight roads, I can't overrtake the bastards!), I get a lot of good runs, and a lot of photo oppertunities.
Photobucket
Though a lot of the time when there's a tight corner to begin with, or like I mentioned, small roads, damage occurs. Thankfully, it's not always myself that gets hit, and I laugh as some AI drivers scrape and run each other off the road, while I scream past at full speed. It's satisfying when that happens, but when you try and sneak past someone, and they clip you, it can be the most frustrating thing in the world.

It's an amazing game. I love it. The fact that you can be on top of a leaderboard without even racing is a great thing to integrate. People who are great at designing, tuning, taking pictures, putting together replays, making logos, they can all excell at their own field, and get recognised for it. You can even make a lot of money by doing these and never racing, just to get that one car you desperatly want. Turn 10 did an amazing job, and I couldn't be more pleased that I bought the LCE and became a VIP member. I'm sure I will play this a lot more than both other entries in the series, and I can't wait to unlock and create some truely amazing things, as well as see what other people can come up with, just to try and beat out someone else. There's nothing I can find wrong, and I don't think I'd care if I did. It'd be so small that everything else they did so right would just overshadow it. It's one the best racing games I've played, and a lot of the time I've played it hasn't even been the racing.

This has been Sitoxity, and that was my thoughts and experience on Forza Motorsport 3. I hope you enjoyed it, and liked what I showed. I realise the pictures kind of take up the brunt of it, but it's better than a wall of text. :)

I'll be working on a Gaming Ramblings soon. Possibly this weekend, but it may be later than that as I'll be busy and I'm back to college this week. Again, I hope you enjoyed reading this, and thank you if you did. Be sure to look up my storefront if you have the game! Just look up my gamertag Sitoxity See you guys next time!

It's driving me bonkers how much I want this game.

I found it quite interesting how this blog is centered around the non-racing aspects of Forza. Really goes to show how much enjoyment one can have with the game without even being a racing junkie. I am a racing junkie, but I have recently experimented with the decal options, talking about Forza 2 of course, and I feel I'm getting pretty good. I could probably make those designs you have posted, especially the WRX one. I, like you, am absolutely floored by the talent of some of the decal artists you see online. Some of these guys must spend hours and hours on their designs that make something I was proud of look like a turd. =D

In the end I'm far more interested in the racing though. I've been playing Forza 2 a lot lately to keep my mind off Forza 3. That cockpit view got me too excited while playing the demo. UGH.

Anyway. Nice blog. The images were a little too big though. If you sized them down a bit, like 500 wide, it'd make the text seem more significant. I love your designs though. Maybe I'll see you online once I pick up Forza 3, it may be a while though =(.
