Let's Play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories [Part 1]

Chapter 1: To lose and claim anew...

screen1

Disney and Square working on the same game? What madness is this!?

Oh, that kind of madness.

This game tried to prove once and for all why FMVs don't belong in GBA games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3qukdFiLDM

I wasn't expecting the inside of the castle to be so... white.

It's a massive castle and you're barely in the doorway. Isn't it a bit soon to jump to that conclusion?

Goofy, we're RPG protagonists. Barging into other people's homes is pretty much all we know how to do.

Donald: We have to if we're gonna find the king...

It's at this point I draw your attention to the dialogue portraits' amazing power to blink. Capturing this screen at a half blink is the reason Goofy looks doped.

It's a dark foreboding castle. Where else would he be?

Sora knows what he's talking about.

Great minds? You give Donald and Sora far too much credit, my friend.

We ain't rookie RPG heroes. We know where to find a game's plot.

...So?

Goofy, you're looking abnormally relaxed there. You didn't eat anything strange on the way here, did you?

What? Why!? I was hoping to walk into the castle, look around for five seconds and leave!

Donald: Hey, where are you going?

Besides, wasn't checking it out your idea in the first place?

Always a courteous gent, that Goofy.

A mysterious per-

Or not?

Wasn't he the guy who led you here in the opening cutscene? Did you honestly forget?

Donald: It must be a Heartless! Let's see how it handles my magic.

I sure am glad Donald's on our side.

So very, very glad.

Donald: I don't get it. Why isn't my magic working?

We've been de-leveled, haven't we?

Am I going to forget where I live?

Mysterious Man: In this place, to find is to lose and to lose is to find.

Oblivion; the condition or quality of being completely forgotten.

Sora: Castle Oblivion?
Mysterious Man: Yes...Here you will meet people you know. People you miss.

Because the creepy guy in the cloak should really be trusted on the subject.

There was a weird afterimage effect that I failed to capture.

That's a good question, Sora.

If that was made from his memories, doesn't that mean the key was inside him all along? Is that the moral of the story?

That's a stupid question, Sora.

Or walk into the villain's trap, whichever works.

In other words, no Gummi Ship. HELL YEAH!

Sora: Like this?
Mysterious Man: Yes. Go, Sora. To lose and claim anew, or to claim anew only to lose...

Third time he's made use of his warping power and they're still surprised. Things don't look well for our heroes.

And so our adventure begins!

Let's Play Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

How do you take a successful action RPG for the PS2 and make a sequel on the GBA? By making it into a children's card game! I don't get it either...
