PS3 WILL have a price drop by Christmas

By DestinRL on July 16, 2009, 1:19 pm

A source who wishes to remain anonymous has leaked a little tidbit of info that may be interesting to some of you. The source, who I again remind you wished to remain anonymous, is saying that an internal memo has been circulating around Sony that hints at what everyone has been hoping to be true. That Sony's black beauty the PS3 will be getting a price drop this Christmas. To quote "we got an internal memo from ______ saying there should be a price drop soon." Maybe they took the money they were losing on their store in the Metreon which sadly closed recently in order to offset the losses expected by the price drop of the console. Lets all have a moment of silence for the store in the Metreon...at least before we break open the champagne.

I think they'll announce a price - drop at TGS. Seems about the right time to do it.

Don't quote me on it...I read it on Wikipedia

A price drop may bring me back to sony under the right circumstances. I grew up with every nintendo console and a ps1 and ps2. Never touched and xbox. But ps3s ridiculous price tag and the fact they keep ripping the insides from their consoles drove me to buy a 360 (only $200! amazing). Will this be on Hard News or is it just hearsay?

Destin, you slut! You better not be just getting my hopes up. Hope your right, though.

I wonder if it'll have one too. With the recession in full-swing and Nintendo making a significant enough profit-margin off it, they may have no other choice if they want sales to continue; after all, it has been 2 1/2 years already...

With this and the PS2 emulation patent, the PS3 may find its way into my bedroom if all of this is true. :O

Now I can afford a PS3 (hopefully).
Also I've been to Metreon few years ago, it was very nice but not something to cry for. The only thing I really feel sorry for is the Games Workshop there. That was amazing and I don't even like WarHammer.

Sony may complain that they lose money per PS3, but they are losing more but leaving the price so high. If they do drop the price, they are guaranteed a profit in another year or 2.
