Darkseid+1 Review: Wayne's World 2

By Darkseid on February 3, 2010, 10:31 am

Darkseid: Welcome back to the Wayne's World series review with GameXmasteR. Today were looking at Wayne's World 2.

GameXmasteR: Wayne's world, Wayne's world, party time, excellent! glad to be here again.

Darkseid: I must admit, this one wasn't as good. Still, I think it's much better than most critics do. Plus they picked a great guy for a villain, what with that cowbell fever...

GameXmasteR: Agreed, the movie IS a little inferior, but that's like saying that Ghostbusters 2 is inferior to 1. They're both great movies full of awesome.

Darkseid: The plot this time follows both Wayne and Cassandra. Wayne is trying to put on a concert and do something with his life (Thanks to the pushing of the ghost of Jim Morrison), while Cassandra is trying to become a rockstar with help of her producer played by Christopher Walken. Since it's Walken, he's the villain putting the moves on Cassandra.

GameXmasteR: Well, that's pretty much the heart of the plot. The rest is just a bunch of jokes, like the "half naked Indian guy", although, just like in the first movie, Wayne eventually has to get Cassandra back from her producer, who tries to break them off the entire movie. Also, the show plays a less important part of the plot here. Still, there's the leprechaun jokes...

Darkseid: LOOK BEHIND YOU!!

GameXmasteR: Garth's facial expressions in that scene are PRICELESS.

Darkseid: That joke was brilliant. A lot of forth wall breaking jokes still made their way in here, really working well.

Just like in the first movie, most jokes are references to cultural phenomenon of the time. A good example is the fight between Wayne and Cassandra's father, with the weird dub and the crappy effects. But the reason most people went to the theaters was Aerosmith. We all love Aerosmith.

Darkseid: If only they did some jokes...
Since not much otherwise has changed, we should talk about what makes this somewhat lacking. For me, it was lacking anything new to spice things up.

GameXmasteR: Some jokes are taken straight out from the previous one. Although some of the new ones are friggin hilarious, it felt more like Wayne's world DLC than Wayne's world 2.

Darkseid: It's not bad by any stretch, just not complete.

GameXmasteR: Amen. My favorite joke was when Wayne and Garth go into the record company and see some guys in the street.

"- My job is to put these crates with chickens in the street, and he puts some watermelons next to it.

- So you sell watermelon?

-No, we just put them in here, and those guys have to walk from one side of the street to the other with a giant glass window every once in a while.

-Ooh."

Either that or when Garth says "This coke's gone bad."

Darkseid: Lets rap this up: THE BEST JOKE WAS AT THE GAY BAR!!!

GameXmasteR: YES. THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. THE GAY BAR PART IS PURE GENIUS. Not only that, it's also the only predictable, yet funny joke I've ever seen. Also, Garth's psycho girlfriend is just hilarious. The main spotlight of the movie is Waynestock, Wayne's music festival. Everything just goes wrong, and we get only two endings now.

Darkseid: Three. Bad, good, and Thelma and Louise.

GameXmasteR: Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. Needless to say, in the end, Wayne gets Cassandra back, and Aerosmith plays at Waynestock. Then the concert continues in the credits

Darkseid: Good movie overall, but not great. Thanks for the help, now GET BACK TO WORK ON MEME BLOGS SLAVE!!

They're both classics that give me a strong 90s nostalgia. Party on, Wayne!

My mom thinks it's about drugs. Yeah, my family doesn't have a great sense of humor. I mean, they like those bad "Movie" movies!

The sequel was still pretty good but it was getting obvious they had taken the characters as far as they could go

Yeah. I'm glad they never made a third, it's better that our memories aren't stained by a bad end.
