I thought that this year, rather than the typical 'Spend more time with my family' or 'Stop playing video games' routine for my new year's resolutions, I could make some that would actually apply to what I do in life. Unfortunately, it's hard to make resolutions about eating, sleeping, and playing Zelda, so I figured I'd write them about blogging instead. Who knows, maybe some other people will follow them too...
Also, I've done a lot of ranting lately, so rather than getting deep into detail, I'll just cover a point and move on.

I'm feeling a bit sheepish right now to be honest, because I had 2 top G1 posts at the same time, but I didn't realise that editting one of them would mean it was automatically removed from the top post section, and it can't be re-added there, because that would mean giving me another 150 G1 points for the same blog.

Straight away, let me thank the G1's who have commented and enjoyed my work recently. I rarely land a top G1 post, and I never expected to have 2 at the same time. Thanks everyone, you've restored my faith in blogging.
Anyway, I did a blog with covered my favourite 10 franchises which I don't play, like Final Fantasy, Sonic and Metal Gear Solid, so I figure I might as well pay my respects to the great franchises I do play too. First off, some guidelines.
Seeing as this is 'Franchises' and not games, I have to have played more than one game in the series.

EDIT: A few people have asked which games I actually do play, considering that I don't play all of these, so here's a quick link to the follow up blog 'Top 10 Best Franchises I Do Play'. http://screwattack.com/node/14844
A few of my recent blogs have been ranting, so I thought I'd do something upbeat. Out of all the blogs I've done, this is going to be the most poorly researched, because I want to honour the franchises I never play.

Over the last few months of writing blogs, something has begun to agitate me. This doesn't happen too much here at Screwattack, mainly at bigger websites like Digg, but it's really annoying me. This is simply a guide to explain to people what a blogger is. I don't normally ask people to Digg my blogs, and you'll see why, but if you DO Digg one article I write, make it this so that they can hopefully get the message.

While I spend a lot of blog time moaning and bitching about bad games, I feel like I should try something different... so now I'm going to moan and bitch about good games!
Well, not really. These are 10 really amazing games, and 10 things that would push them into complete and utter perfection.
Honourable Mention:
Game: Earthbound
Awesome because: Amazing story, music, gameplay, takes place in modern times.
Could be better with: European release.
We're getting Chrono Trigger for the first time on the DS in Spring... now give us Earthbound!!

It's time for more gaming etiquette!!!
Let's face it, we've all got a bit out of hand playing video games. Whether it's swearing at the screen, or breaking our controller, we're all a bit guilty of being complete and utter douchebags with games. Take the game away, and you're left with a respectable and well-spoken human being. Put the game back, and you're left with a foul-mouthed 17 year old screaming,
"HOW AM I MEANT TO EFFING KILL HIM IF THE CHAINSAW GUY ISN'T RECOILING FROM MY SHOTGUN SHELLS?"

In a world filled with games with stunningly realistic graphics, amazing real-time experiences, and interactive control schemes, comes a game like this...
Anyway, this is 'Castle of the Winds'. I guess if it falls into any category, it's one of those 'action/adventure/RPG' games. I've never played 'Dungeons and Dragons', but if I did, I'd expect it to go something like this game did.

Getting into the top 10 wasn't going to be easy for games on this list. The entire reason I made this list was because I was going to do an in-depth review of some of my favourite games, but I realised when I wrote them out that 10 out of the 20 were all on PC, so I figured it would be easier to do a separate feature about them. So you can clearly see that I must really love some of these old PC games. From here onwards, each game can be considered in my top 20 video games of all time.

My last 2 entries were educational, so now that I've shown that not all educational games are bad, I might as well show that not all 'kiddy' games are bad. With the name 'Best Friends Forever' you should hardly be expecting a Master Chief/Soap MacTavish, and instead, you get this.
