Monday Classic Quick Review: Outrun

Outrun is a mid 80's driving game. You would drive your sports car throughout several levels attempting to get to the finish before time runs out. At each checkpoint, you are given more time to make it to the finish, but if you don't time it just right (i.e. crashing or staying in the wrong gear) you WILL run out of time. Then its game over for you.

Friday's Classic Quick Review: Zork

The beginning of adventure games is here!

Difficulty: Just Right
Learning Curve: 0 to 30 Minutes

"Hey...there isn't any graphics...this game has gotta suck!!!!!!" I hear that comment almost anytime I play Zork on my laptop. Well I am here to say that you don't need graphics and sound to make a great game.

Graphics: The game is text based, there are NO graphics but you are supposed to picture the scene in your mind. Sometimes the imagination can be the best graphics of all.

Video Game Review: Kings Quest VI

Roberta Williams does it again with the sixth installment of Kings Quest

Gameplay: 10

Graphics: 9

Sound: 9

Overall Score 9.6 (damn good)

Difficulty: Just Right
Learning Curve: 30 to 60 Minutes
Hours Spent: 100 or More Hours

In KQ VI, many things were changed and enhanced over KQ 5. First, they used actual actors instead of people from the sierra offices, which made the dialog worth listening to. However, I personally liked the original King Graham voice actor.

Me

Probably should go ahead and do this...I've already done a few other blogs and didn't introduce myself.

I'm Chris, and I live in Glenville, WV during school, and Huntington during the summer. I am a music ed major and a history minor.

I have been gaming since 1985 when my parents bought an NES for themselves...yet it didn't last long in their hands.

Gameboy Classic Game Review

I thought I would start posting my old game reviews. This one from back in 2002

NINJA GAIDEN SHADOW

An interesting twist to the Ninja Gaiden series

Difficulty: Just Right
Learning Curve: 0 to 30 Minutes
Time Spent: 10 Hours or Less

First off before you think that this is a sequel to the NES games, it isn't. Natsume originally programed this game to be a shadow of the ninja hand-held game. Then Tecmo bought the rights to the game, changed it around and called it Ninja Gaiden "Shadow".
