This game was so awesome! Everything about this game felt right, crazy graphics, funny story, great character and pure genius music! I hope they don't mess up the sequel.

There was also a Sega Saturn and (I think) PS2 version of Earthworm Jim 2. I own the Saturn version. Didn't like it as much as the first one, though.
I also have the Sega CD version of Earthworm Jim 1. Musically, it's the best version of the game, though the graphics aren't as nice as they are on SNES.

Well I know what you mean, I would have like better graphics in this version but you got to remember, this was an upgraded version of the Mega Drive version. They did put some new animations in it.
If you talk about games that let you use your face as a weapon, then yeah. EWJ isn't the only one, and aside from the other games you already mentioned... Dynamite Headdy.
But I think Craig actually meant what game allows you to do all 3 of those things.

As the biggest Earthworm Jim fan ever I just about shit myself a month or so ago when I heard about the new game, the new tv series(I hope it's still awesome that was and still is my favorite show of all time), and a fucking movie!
I borrowed this game on the MegaDrive off this kid who lives in my street. I was very young at the time and he was much older. I loved the game but never bought a copy of it for my own, I hope the new game is gonna be good, if they make it!

There was also an Earthworm Jim game on the N64 because I remember renting it. Although, I remember it being pretty hard and you collect golden utters.
the music, the graphics (for the time), the gameplay.. just amazing, loved this game, one of my favorites.. they also had action figures of earthworm jim lol, i had one ahaha, and if they have a new game im going to shit, hopefully its going to be just as crazy as this one!
Well Portal is funny, but c'mawn this is the first game that put me on the floor!
Not to mention it was a blast to play, seriously my cousin owned this game and me and my brother borrowed the ever lovin' snot out of it! heck, we even rented Earthworm Jim 2 quite a bit too:)
I beat it, but umm....I kinda cheated and used a save feature. Hopefully if it comes to the VC (and it looks like it will!) I'll do my best to complete it. The HARDEST part for me was getting past that under water level, seriously whoever decided time limits in games were a good idea are dumb as butts! >:(
Right up up there as far as zaniness goes with Battletoads and Toejam and Earl. Although Battletoads was very, very impossibly hard I seem to remember.

"What other game lets you use your face as a weapon"? It's funny you should say that, Craig. Two games you've reviewed in the vault have you use your character's face as the main weapon: DecapAttack and Ristar. Epic fail, craig. Shame on you.

there simply is no better game where the main character is a worm!
I remember playin this as a kid and i loved every minute of it, from the first time those time birds tried to grab you out of your suit in the junkyeard level to the first time you come in contact with the smiling cows at the end of each level. i might actually be mixing this up with earthworm jim 2.....but there both still brilliant!!!!

beleive me, it's a good thing you haven't played EWJ 3D. Annoying camera control, bad graphics, terrible control and a bad storyline. Stay away from this one! EWJ 4 will be the true sequel to EWJ 2, it'll be very cool if EWJ is voiced by Dan Castellneta(Homer Simpson) again.

I'm so excited to learn Earthworm Jim is coming back both in games and on TV and not forgetting the big screen. I own the Mega CD version of Earthworm Jim and the Saturn version of Earthworm Jim 2. I thought that EWJ 2 wasn't as good as the first one but that's just me. Cartoon kicked some serious ass though.

I love this game for its quirkiness, its genius gameplay, but most of all, for its soundtrack. Now, I had the PC version, so the audio quality was superior to that of the SNES for a few of the songs. If you guys haven't heard the audio from the PC Special Edition, do yourself a favor and Google "Earthworm Jim Music". Some great guy has put up all that music. (Except for "Buttville". You'll have to YouTube that.) The composer was Tommy Tallarico, who also did the music for Bard's Tale, MDK, Advent Rising, THPS, Spider-man, and he even did sound design for Metroid Prime 1 & 2, just to name a few. So yea, this guy is awesome. Anyway, the music in this game made me want to be a musician.

I always thought that the game was based on the TV show, not the other way around!
I've ALWAYS been a fan of RPG's, and I never really got into platforms, except for, of course, Mario games, and Earthworm Jim! (And the odd Disney or Warner Bros. Sidescroller)
The games for the SNES were REALLY amazing in comparison to other games, I found (as a grade 4 student). He had a few different idle moves, and the background shifted around on it's own. And the music was awesome!
I'm TOO exited that they're bringing out a new game and, possibly, a movie.
Fucking eh.
I'm not so sure about the movie, though. I can't find anything on IMDB. I think that they may have just signed some papers making it an available option, but they haven't decided to create it QUITE yet. They probably just have to find some investors, make sure that no one copies them, etcetera...
They've rented the idea, not purchased it... maybe.
Keep your fingers crossed, though, kids. The idea has been launched, now all we have to do is wait to see if its thoughts are happy enough to keep it in the air.

Wow, Earthworm Jim must be one of the greatest game i've ever played in my entire life. Tell me, which other game kept you entertained for more than 10 years? Which other game had kickass sprites and frames back on the Snes? And which other game created by Dick Parry from Shiny and the original Ewj crew kicked so much asses? The answer is NO OTHER GAME!!1! lol Except for one, which is the direct sequel, Earthworm Jim 2! With slightly improved graphics, way more levels and a huge collection of guns and crazy stuff to collect everywhere, that game was just awesome back in the 90s and trust me, it still is, beated the game on my old Snes yesterday. xD Anyway, keep up the great work guys, was a good video!

"Get Busy Livin' or Get Busy Dyin'"
There's already a sequel
Earthworm Jim 2 was on the Sega Genesis in Europe and on the SNES in North America and Europe
You're right!
You're right, I had completely forgotten about the sequel. I was referring to the one Craig mentioned in the vid but thanks for reminding me.

Why is it that
these videos are up on game trailers days before its on the actual site?
I don't know why..
I think that a GT update and a new video should be put on the site every day.
NO OTHER GAME!
"What other game let's you use your face as a weapon?"
What about Ristar and Decap Attack? Two VGV's done by Craig where he actually says you use your face as a weapon...
Great VGV though, the main reason I keep coming back.

Even though I already saw this VGV on GT in the stoneage, this, IMO, is a waste of a potential day's update.

Agreed
Definitely the funniest game ever. And the underwater level was ridiculous. That is followed closely in difficulty and frustration by For Pete's Sake.
I seem to remember a level (at least in the PC version) where you start out without your "super suit," and EWJ says, "I'm nuuude." Fabulous.

Wrong.
Craig meant how many games let you use your face as a weapon, control a worm & feature a boss battle that you win with one hit, all at the same time.
And how many games let you do all that? Eathworm Jim 1 & 2.
Oh God, i love this game
