This was a great VGV... although I definitly remember playing this over that genesis sega channel... I use to think the game was impossible to beat. If only I could play it now.

Aw, the memories of renting this game on my Genesis with Ristar, Earhtworm Jim, Boogerman and Sonic 3...man, it was awesome for it's time...great...Now I need to rebuy it again! Time to go to ebay. =D

Man, this game was fucking sweet. Just made of complete radness. I strongly suggest you get it however you can, whether it's for Genesis, Genesis collection or Virtual Console you cannot go wrong with this game, it's just that tubular.
I really loved this game, I beat in in two nights, but that was because I played it like 16 hours per day. I found a glitch in my copy. On a arrow on the last page, I had to do it just right or the game reset. That really sucked, but I loved it never the less. I long since lost my Genesis copy, but I have it on The Sonic Collection for PS2.

As I commented on GT, this game is a great beat-em-up, and while it is extremely difficult, there's something about it I hate even more than that... THE MUSIC.
Now, don't get me wrong, not many Genesis games can claim great or even decent music, and this comes from the Genesis' rather poor sound chip compared to the SNES. Heck, even the NES tends to have better music in its games. But that said, Comix Zone, compared to other Genesis games, has some rather lame music, and is the sole reason why I haven't tried to play through the game in its entirety yet. (Seriously, it's THAT bad...)
Great VGV! I can vouch somewhat for the popularity of this game in the UK. I worked in a computer shop when this game came out (just before the PSX/Saturn release in the UK if I remember right?). We ordered around 15 and sold 2, the rest were returned :-(

I remember playing it on an old computer I used to have. (bet you didn't know there was a PC port, huh Craig?) It was insanely hard though. but then again I was seven....I need to get my hands on it again, just to test how far I've come since my younger gaming days.
Too bad any normal gamer can only see the first level or two without quitting in frustration because it's so hard and irritating as well. Didn't get any easier when I tried it 10 years later on pS2 collection either.
I remember when I was a kid and this game had a big spread in Gamepro and I had to have it. I did everything in my power to get a copy of this game and finally I had bought it. I still own that cartridge, and is easily one of my top favs!
To the newer generation of gamers, buy this off VC, you don't be disappointed.

I actually have played this on the Genesis back in the day when it was out...well, ok, it was my brother's, but it was still pretty fun, even though I could never get past the second chapter. Either way, it was a classic game, and a great way to end the life cycle of the system. =D
Not too much else to say that hasn't been said already, "Comix Zone" is one of my top 5 favorite games for the Genesis console. Completely original, and it also came with an amazing CD full of great tunes. This game needs a sequel! A next gen Comix Zone would be amazing!!
I do have to agree. There needs to be a Comix Zone 2, I wouldn't give a crap on which console at at either. I would buy it, and if I didn't have the console, I would buy that too.

Sure, the game was hard and it was unfair that you randomly got another chance, but those gripes aside this game is one of the best on the Genesis and in my Top 5 Favorite Genesis Games. The art direction, originality and graphics made it standout to this day.
Great VGV as always

Amazing coincidence!
Wow, just a couple of days ago I was thinking how neat it'd be if Screwattack did a VGV about Comix Zone. Karmariffic!
Great game though, if hard. That long jump over the lava pit to reach that switch in Episode 3 ...
