From what I've played (the demo) this game is crap.. they took a good idea and just.. crapped it up. Idano I didn't like it. It's just another shooter, but the ground can be manipulated and it gets cheesy after a short time.

By the way, Destin, if you've never seen anything like the "Entrencher", grab an old copy of Magic Carpet II for the PC - it had something very similar, and did it 13 years ago.

Actually I think Destin is showing great restraint by ONLY adding the Vortex Grenade! I would have added the Rhino gun, the Ice gun, the Black Widow, and yes of course the Entrencher! Videos of this games weapons (and the story of their development and what has gone into making this revolutionary game) have been up for Weeks! Trust me, once the multiplayer madness starts I'm willing to bet that future adds to the armory will also hail from Fracture!
When I say "revolutionary" that isn't just hyperbole, this game changes one of the most important strategic elements of combat. The terrain. It WILL change how people play multiplayer. Anything that leads to less jumping idiots I will buy and welcome with an open Armory!

I've actually been following this game for awhile and when I was approached to add a weapon to the armory I was pretty excited. I knew what they had been doing with the game, and Jose and I both got to play it at E3 so we had an idea of what the weapons were like.
I mean, the vortex grenades are frigging awesome. When I saw the weapons documentary they did, I was even more excited to add a weapon to the armory. It just sucked not having anyone to play online against. The servers aren't exactly overflowing when you have a game a week early :)

I'm sorry but it sounded a bit like an advertisement seeing how the game is new and not well known yet. I believe some g1s just expect to see weapons from games that have been available long enough to reach a larger audience. Hence, why haven't you added the Screw Attack yet. I know others like me wish to see it. Anyway, I love the site and I respect all you do, let's not be hard on someone for stating their opinion.

i can see where the whiners are coming from...blah blah blah its a new game 99 percent of us havent played yet so we dont know that much about its weapons, its advertised etc. etc. but come on guys, no matter the game, the weapon looks awesome and not just destin but everyone at screwy knows its awesome. should it be in the armory? hell yes. should we stop giving our opinion to everything they do...no...but be more open and understanding, not so condemning. if you have a problem - go make your own site, dont constantly bicker with them about it. so what if fracture is advertised on the site? they obviously have been dying to get the game and love it...dont tell me you hate seeing fable 2, fallout 3, and gears 2 ads on other sites, and halo 3 on every damn site on the site last year? grow up a little, the internet world survives on advertisements, and it doesn't hurt when your advertising a game your dying to play....its not like they added the tracer gun from battlefield 2 to the armory while promoting its banners everywhere.

I was interested in this game until I played the demo, It sure has some pretty amazing mechanics but when put into play I just don't think it played very well gameplay wize but maybe thats just because I only played the demo.

regardless of how "cool" this weapon is, it's not really appropriate to add it to a list of the most bad-ass weapons ever until it gets some time to settle in. what is this, armory number 7 and you're already using weapons from games that have just been released? i don't know everything, but i doubt the vortex grenade will ever be held to the same "legendary" status as the golden gun from goldeneye or the laptop gun gun from perfect dark, yet those guns haven't gotten justice. i'm sorry, but it looks to me like a cash-in. hope this doesn't become a trend.
There is no denying it: this felt like an ad. It wouldn't have unless that sponsor thing was in the beginning. That doesn't stop it from being awesome, though.
The vortex grenade is much more satisfyingly destructive tho. Speaking of Half-Life 2, where's the gravity gun? If there is one weapon that deserves a spot in the armory, it's that one.

Liero (a Worms clone) and Vigilante 8 were a few. Granted, there's more focus on terrain in Fracture than most games out, which makes it seem revolutionnary then.
I've tried the demo though and didn't like it too much. Then again, perhaps I'll rent it and actually get a second opinion out of it (and perhaps a review)

Scorched Earth (the original for DOS) contained tons of terrain deforming weapons, while the 3-D remake was cool, (and free) the dos version with battle ground eliminating possibility is still my favorite. Though all of that is aside, as the vortex grenade highly deserves to be added to the armory.

So what if there's an ad at the beginning? It's a sponsorship, sponsorships provide money, it's one of the many ways they make money and henceforth get paid. It might be different to have seen the sponsor at the beginning of the Armory, and it might have looked less strange if the sponsor had been on another video - but then, it wouldn't be sponsoring its own game, which is what it's doing, it wouldn't make much sense to sponsor something else at the moment what with the game recently coming out, - but that shouldn't be important; they make this stuff for entertainment, and it's their opinions that go into this, as well as those of the G1's, and I'm talking about what people wanna see in the Armory, and the VGV's, etc.
The comments I had been seeing were pretty disappointing.
