The Force Unleashed

It's been out for a little bit now but do you REALLY know the bottom line about this overhyped mega release? Ben is a huge fan of Star Wars so you can bet your ass he'll give you the full Scoop. If you already have the game what do you think about The Force Unleashed? Do you agree with Ben?

Kick ASS

video loved it =D

YeS!

Indeed a kick ass video, and well reviewed... but my call is wait for the bargain bin on this one, I am disappointed and on a budget so I wont drop 60 bucks on an average game, I would happily pay maybe 40 at most, but Fable is coming and with the collectors edition dead I can now just get the regular version.

very wise

A very wise choice, i will end up doing that as well, im saving up for so many other games, i don't see myself paying full price either.

hgf

its like silent hill

its like silent hill homecoming. its good, pretty fun but it feels so unfinished, and so short.

-8-bit since '86

Still a moderate game...

Despite all the lackluster and meh ratings this game is getting I can't help but think it looks amazingly fun as they're talking about it. Good review Ben.

More like a movie

Game itself is fun but I am probably not buying if it was not Star Wars. They worked much harder on the story and making it feel from the 1st screen that you are watching a 7th Star Wars movie. Star Wars movies usually only have a few big battles anyway so I should be thankful for the 9 levels the game had. Enjoy the game, but I almost could have bought a 10 dollar dvd and just watched the cutscenes instead of paying 60 for playing a slightly longer version of the demo.

8th Star Wars Movie

Lest we forget about that massive pile, The Clone Wars.

(If only we could)

Not another one...

Clone Wars is NOT a movie, it's 3 episodes of the forthcoming animated series 'Star Wars: Clone Wars' forced together to make a movie.

Looks fun and...

is HS Ben going to have to Force Choke a bitch? Heh, looks like its worth at least a rental. Gotta check it out later.

I played it on the PS2 and I

I played it on the PS2 and I have to say I was very impressed. Even for a PS2 game, this was pretty sweet. I am sure the Xbox 360 and P3 versions are much better, but I was satisfied with what I got.

I aggree....

...the PS2 version is brilliant, for the PS2. I'm sure the next-gen versions have the better physics and all but the story is great especially the Jedi trial levels.

YUP!!!

The game is Decent. yea it could have benefited from some more Q/A time.. but I'm sure they were Trying to release about the same time as the Clone Wars Movie. Playing though out the game I kept thinking.. if I was playing Psi ops this would be a lot more fun. BUT since it's a light saber and a new story.. I will give it a chance and the end result was a good one.

Not that it really matters...

but this game is also for the Wii.

RIGHT. I did THAT version.

Right. There are LOTS of different versions of the game. That's why I said I was doing the 360 and PS3 versions.

Nice Video

Nice Video :) But just so you know Jar Jar is in the game though frozen in carbonite ;) just check the trophy room you pass by in the last stages.

no Jarjar :(

i love Jarjar

Good News and Bad News

Actually, it may be possible that Jar Jar is in this game. The good news is that you can find him on Imperial Kashyyyk in Captain Sterns quarters where he keeps all of his hunting trophies. The bad news...he's been frozen in a slab of carbonite. Can't win them all, I guess.

lol that guy at the end got

lol that guy at the end got owned "POW RIGHT IN THE KISSER"

Wow i can't believe you

Wow i can't believe you liked the story... the ending sucks.

What?!?!

The story was amazing. It was so awesome to see the events that transpired between Episodes III and IV. Which ending did you get? If you got the good ending, I cannot possibly imagine how you thought it sucked. Even if you are the most avid of Star Wars fans, you have to love that ending.

Here's my reason

Hey, pilot. I've known you for like, a month. I think you have a nice body. ZOMG I TURNED GOOD FOR YOU.

Seriously, I've seen some weak love stories before, and by weak, I mean there was little to no motivation that couldn't be attached to the guy's obvious lust. This one rates pretty high on that list just because of how much time they spent trying to act like it was legitimate.

That's not the story. While

That's not the story. While yes, his turn is a little abrupt, it has more to do with (not trying to spoil anything here) when he realizes Vader and the Dark Side isn't all he thought they were... the whole time he's struggling with his decision and doesn't make a final decision until literally right after the second to last mission, when he's first wearing the jedi robe and arguing with vader.

Have you even played the game?

He doesn't turn away from the Empire for Juno, nor does he turn to the light side of the force for her.
He 'turns' on the Empire because he's told to, and he goes against Vader & Palpatine because they'd been using him.

I did say it was a little

I did say it was a little far-fetched, but overall the story's not too bad!

THE SCOOP IS BACK

And it kicks more ass than ever before.

Don't mess with me.
I got the blue bomber.

The Scoop is back!

So stoked that the scoop is back! Awesome review too. I was sitting on the fence about this one, I was super stoked after playing the demo but was kinda put off after the average reviews it was getting, think I will pick it up after seeing it's not as shitty as some people have been saying.

Oh yeah, I heard Jar Jar is in the game, sept he is frozen in carbonite. If only they had done that 10 min after we were introduced to him, then maybe episode 1 wouldn't have sucked as much.

I kinda wanna play it just

I kinda wanna play it just for the story

What a scoop!!!!

What a scoop!!!!

That game was terrible. good

That game was terrible. good thing EB games let met take it back in a week...and Jedi Outcast was FAR superior to this game, the lightsaber battle actually felt like a lightsaber battle, not just button mashing with a stick. (6 lightsaber hits to kill a stormtrooper...)

Sportacus - The REAL blue bomber

Not good

Played the demo it isnt so much fun i thought.

I agree

Yeah I agree with Ben here, that it's flaws are just overwhelming and all, even on the Wii Version which is the version I tried first. The controls are good, but it clear they didn't even try and maximize the Wii's fuctionalty, the graphics are just horrible on it.

However the story is nice and fits in rather well, the fighting is fun. Ben's anaolgy of it's 90% done. Well I'll say that's close to it as it has things there that would make it a great game, but other things that just drag it down to average. If they had made the game a christmas release and used the extra months to refine it more or for a Force Unleashed 2 it might turn into a great game, but right now. It's just okay and worthwhile for Star Wars fans and those who don't have anything else to play.

The Wii version is just a

The Wii version is just a port of the PS2 version with different controls. Hence the PS2 graphics on the Wii. (Although sadly it is one of the better Wii games I've seen)

My biggest complaint about the Wii version is the people and things are SO BIG I can't see anything in front of me and also fighting with the camera which doesn't happen even HALF as much as the PS3 and 360 versions.

Not that seeing in front of me would REALLY matter because the draw distance is around 5 feet.

Mediocre at best

the game was fun sure but for the money it costs its a huge rip off i think they spent too much time on teh physics engines and forgot about how to keep the gameplay fresh after the thirdd mission its the same thing over and over again this game is nothing compared to jedi knight and never will be and they story annoyed me sure explain the rebel alliance but the evil guy turns good at the end? for god sake cant we play as someone evil thru the whole game for once

Agreed, it's alright, but

Agreed, it's alright, but unless you're a die-hard fan, you might just want to rent it. I absolutely love star wars, so naturally I bought it, and even I was a little disappointed, but still, impaling a flailing stormtrooper, zapping him full of lightning and throwing him into a group of his friends is too rewarding. If you're into that sort of thing.

Apparently, Ben and I are.

I think that if you're a big

I think that if you're a big enough fan of the series that you can overlook the minor problems the game has in it. Plus, I know everyone loves to rip on the prequels, but I feel that they were just as good as the others.

I'm not as big of a fan as some, but to me, they're all on the same level. Sure, the story in this is great but I don't think that it is "better" than any of the other films.

I dunno man... saying Attack

I dunno man... saying Attack of the Clones is on the same level as Empire Strikes Back is kinda.... ehh.... pushing it...

I gotta admit I really

I gotta admit I really enjoyed the Wii version.

I gave it a 6/10 in my

I gave it a 6/10 in my review. I just cannot rationalize a game with that many glitches. I mean, what should have been one of the best levels was destroyed by a glitch that made me have to look up what the problem was on GameFAQ's. That's inexcusable.

I have a feeling I know what

I have a feeling I know what you're talking about... *ahem* star destroyer *cough cough*...

Yoooou got it, mister. 3rd

Yoooou got it, mister.

3rd time trying to pull down the star destroyer and the meter thing that shows you the sticks never goes green anymore. I spent an hour or 2 trying to figure out if I was suppose to throw the little blue floating garbaging at the bottom at something. But ultimatly it was just a glitch with the meter and you just have to eyeball it.

I don't get how such a massive glitch could get by. Lame.

Yeah, lol I was going to go

Yeah, lol I was going to go on a huge rant over that in this, but it got WAAAAY too long so I just decided I'd save it for something later...

*wonders what you're saving

*wonders what you're saving it for*

New segment? "Ben's Rant from Hell"? lol.

yeah i went to gamefaqs for

yeah i went to gamefaqs for the star destroyer too.

the game was ok, I'm really glad i just borrowed it from a friend though

Why it was a good review for

Why it was a good review for the most part, it didn't really help me decided whether to buy it or not, even though i know personally im not going to buy it.

YAYZ, The Scoop!

I couldn't wait for this one!

PC!

PERHAPS A PC VERSION WOULD BE THE PERFECT PLATFORM FOR A GLITCHLESS RELEASE!!!!!!! I can almost not buy games anymore. EA trying to rent games, constant PC denial, and when they do release a PC version the game always turns out to be short overhyped shit. Lets not forget Mega Man 9 downloadable content, at the very least you would think they would wait awhile to release it to make it look like it was an afterthought ("hey wait, we can add some neat things, lets do it!") and not just a shitty way to get more money from you. BULLSHIT!!!!

The only way I can actually

The only way I can actually see this working on a PC is if you have a mouse with a LOT of buttons for force powers and stuff... or are just really good as using all five fingers at once around the WASD and buttons around it all at the same time...

Why would you need a mouse

Why would you need a mouse with a lot of buttons? You could just use a game pad with the PC version.

true lol duh. i shoulda

true lol duh. i shoulda known that...

I'm happy sticking with LEGO

I'm happy sticking with LEGO Star Wars.

Ben time no see finally a

Ben time no see finally a Scoop!

A difference?

Call me A noob But is there a Difference Between The wii and Xbox/ps3 version? Cuz I got the wii version and its Awesome!!

I got the Wii version...

From what I'm seeing in this video, I made the right choice. I've yet to find one glitch, so I guess they just cared more about it.

I have to say...

That was an excellent video. It gave a thought out look at both the pro's and con's without overemphasiving the hype that backs the game. More times than not I hear people talk about how great the game is simply because of its Starwar's backing...without looking at the flaws which exist. Thankyou Ben for making this video, and with quality like this...I'm looking forward to your next video.

But...

You didnt cover the best of the versions the wii version witch though it looks worse graphics wise it has the best controls it feels like your welding a real lightsaber

Im here to kick ass and watch AVGN and i forgot my computer

Right, cause they're almost

Right, cause they're almost completely different and this version is the most controversial. Plus, I unfortunately haven't played the Wii version all that much, at least compared to the PS360 lol

I'll rent this

I love Star Wars! But I'll only pay $5 bucks for 5 days of ass-kicking with the force. They need to bring back those guys who made that Jedi Knight game that I've been hearing about and have them make a Star Wars FPS with Online Multi-Player! That would kick ass!

IMO it's a decent game, but

IMO it's a decent game, but not great. Some of it's flaws left me incredibly frustrated during my first playthrough.
Like the time it takes you to get back up on your feet after you get knocked to the ground. And all the while your enemies can gang up you and rape your healthbar. Later I found out your can recover in midair by pressing jump before you hit the ground, but often you don't have the time. And even that takes quite some time, leaving you vulnerable to annoying ranged enemies like purge troopers.

I did have a considerably better time during my second playthrough. Having carried over all powers, talents, combos and chrystals from my previous game and having mastered using the force, I really felt like the force wreckinball badass the hype promised.

Playing fully opgraded does have the major disadvantage of making the game ridiculously easy, even at the hardest difficulty setting.

Sigh, there's just no pleasing me...

Perhaps you're not as strong as the emperor thought

As a Star Wars fan and a gamer I had to buy this game ofcourse. And since I have both a X360 and a Wii I bought both versions.

Two completely different games, yet both average.

The X360 version is a joy to look at, is fun to play and has achievments yet I must say its just another average game.

It has great visuals and a pretty great story (excluding the bad romance subplot) but it doesn't reach any of the movies (I love all six 1# RotS, 2# AOTC, 3# TESB, 4# TPM, 5# ANH, 6# ROTJ) nor does it surpass other great Star Wars games such as Knights of the Old Republic/The Sith Lords or the Jedi Knight series.

The lightsaber combat against other Jedi/Dark Jedi/Sith doesn't function that well on the X360/PS3 version. You'll quickly end up using your basic comboes and force powers to beat the enemy. And why doesn't the lightsaber sever limbs any more? To be honest the lighsaber feels pretty unnessecary since you'll be killing enemies off with the force most of the time and there are no puzzles which require the weapon.

Many tells of glitches within the game. I have only experienced one while playing it so I don't know if its that big of a problem.

The voice cast is great though it would have been nice to hear Ian McDiarmid reprise his role as Darth Sidious rather than Sam Witwer's (The Secret Apprentice) imitation. Matt Sloan (Chad Vader) as Darth Vader sounds great though.

It's also nice how they let you play the game over again with all of your powers, comboes, lightsaber crystals and costumes unlocked after completing the game.

TFU is with it's flaws and short length still a must buy for any Star Wars fan and they probably already have.

TFU < JK

So, TFU reminds you of the Jedi Knight series? Well, there somehow similar, but Jedi Knight is way better. It didn't try to be more like Advent Children or Dragonball than actual Star Wars, and the sword fights were quick and intense, not like those long and boring battles in TFU.

The Wii Version

The wii version is like 8x more fun than the rest of them.
