Questions
So...whats the deal with the new level for purchase on LBP. Do these exclusive purchasable levels have different creative abilities not available when creating your own level? Say like Mario Smash Brothers level creator has very few options? Gotta say, THAT would be pretty lame? And if not, why the hell would you buy it instead of making it yourself?
Also, the video halted right after Corey began talking to load an advertisment which never went. Tried it again, and its the same. Not sure if its just my computer but I thought I'd bring it up.

One really cool thing about LBP is that you can take stuff from other (including developer) levels, so we'll see lots of variations on the GOW level. As for fewer options, the other developers can probably ask for certain extra things that we as consumers can't. Also I'm sure neither one of us is playing Beta so how can we already assume what's lame about a promising game.

That is an excellent point. But with such a promising game, that is the very worry I have...limitations for creativity. If the options available do not meet or exceed ones expectations, the game could very well turn out to be medeocre and forgetable...but like you said, that is a judgment call to be made once the game is played. But if from what I gather is correct (from the GOW comment), and you can use all items/background/music from ingame, rather than just a portion, than I'll agree that the game will most likely meet/exceed expectations, while still leaving room for advancement.

Here's another way to think about LBP in addition to what someone else said: theoretically, if people around the world are making levels all the time, you essentially have a game with endless content and limitless replay value. In essence, it's a game that has no end. We all have games that we love, but even they become dull after a while. If LBP works like it's supposed to, it will never become dull. There are probably more people who suck at making games than those who excel at it, but LBP has already reached gold status in reserve orders alone; in other words, there will be more than enough great content mixed in with the bad, and after seeing some of the user-created levels in the beta, I'm very hopeful.
Also,
To add to the limitless play, it is also not, ONLY, limited to what the creators gave the games' level creators.The Playstation Eye can be used to take pictures of even more things to add just about ANYTHING you want into the game. symbols, items, other game characters. That just makes it even more interesting and adds even more content.
Then at the end of the level, like a few people have done in the beta, the added content from people taking pictures can be given as rewards for playing/beating the level. Then EVERYONE can use what others have used.
There are just so many possibilities for this game. Already in the beta, if you have watched the OoTB Episode you already saw them, there is a Gears of War level, Resident Evil level, Sonic level, a retro level that shows pacman, asteroids, q-bert.
So basically imagination is the limit with this game.
That is what the HYPE is about.

Way too many hate comments directed at Japan. Yea, their sexual stuff is very open over here but it's not as bad as some other countries. Making comments like Fuck Japan! They're sick! makes me a bit angry. Yea, the system for how they decide games is flawed, but don't attack the country or culture like that. A lot of bad things can be said about any culture and I really do not appreciate such comments.
Again, it's fine to not like a system, or to think that something is too open, but know your limits when all out insulting something. 7/11 having hentai magazines casually viewable is weird, so is a lot of stuff here, but there are plenty of things I could point out about America or France that I have seen that is straight up crazy too. No More Heroes was pretty bloody IIRC, like necks spewing gallons of blood and money, and other media like anime can get away with emptying a person entirely of blood on screen with no batting of eyelashes.
