If you haven't heard, Guitar Hero: World Tour is on the way out. As a dude who has never been able to thrash like Harrison Fluster (winner of IMOG 2008), I've never really gotten into the series as much as others. When Activision invited me to come out and check out the new game, I brought two things 1) Producer Andy (who happens to live in LA and kicks ass at GH) and 2) the burning desire to find our what makes this game different than every other Guitar Hero game. Turns out there's a lot and it's actually pretty damn fun. It might just have the Eye of the Tiger.

It looks good, but I'm gonna stick with Rock Band 2, just cause you can export your RB1 songs to it, the DLC from RB1 works with it, and just the volume of DLC for Rock Band Vs. The DLC support for GH3 was enough to make me choose Rock Band.
Having said that, it just means I'll be buying Rock Band 2 FIRST.

dont get me wrong, both games are amazing, but ill probably opt for GHWT. one of the things that really sold me is the fact that theres more drum pads in GHWT than RB. but i really wish u could export GH3 songs 2 WT.

...essentially Rock Band but I have a feeling that this one is going to do everything RB does and do it way better. GH in my eyes has always been a much better series then Rock Band. Rock Band may have more DLC but GH has a better difficulty and it's always been more fun to play.

GHWT ripped a BUNCH of ideas/songs from Rock Band...the entire game interface itself is a ripoff.
Plus, in GHWT you only get about 70 songs, in RB2, I have 205!

Only what comes with the retail copy the "standalone" game counts. Not what was DLC for the "first" game. As for the GH DLC sucking that doesn't even factor into my idea because I have only played GH on PS2 so I've never played the DLC so I have no idea how good or bad it is. I'm not biased. I just know what I prefer an it ain't RB. Sorry to burst your bubble fanboy.

Yeah, Konami even made Guitar Freaks, a rhythm game which even had a guitar-shaped controller to play it with. They also made Drummania, which came with a drum kit.
The only thing that Harmonix really put in Rock Band was the voice support, and even then, they'd made a (crappy) game which used about the same technology.

I think guitar hero 4 will actually be a lot better than rock band 2... sad to say it because I've been a fan of harmonix for a long time now. They used to be a cool tight nit company who actually gave the community some cool chances to be a part of the making of each game with play tests and things of the like. I was lucky enough to be a part of them way back for antigrav, Karaoke Revolution (literally all versions), and the best one, the original guitar hero. They even went as far as to let us come back a second time to spend the whole day there. Since then i don't know what's happened, i've sent emails like "HEY WHAT'S UP" and they don't respond anymore. Seems as if they've gotten to big to listen to the people anymore.
I'll stick with Rock Band...

Rock Band 2 will sell better. Any sane person doesn't want 2 drumsets in their house. If you already bought Rock Band most people would just buy the Rock Band 2 disc.

Guitar Hero world tour has Hotel California by the Eagles, Freaking Beat it by Michael Jackson and Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne and Eye of the tiger. RB2 has Painkiller and thats about it. Plus painkiller would be ten times more fun on GHWT.

I don't think Wii Music serves much of a purpose. It's just something for casual gamers to have fun messing around with. Essentially they're the same thing, except Wii music has more "instruments." People who purchase Wii Music probably wouldn't purchase Guitar Hero, and vice versa, so I guess they figured no one would notice.

you have to pick an officially licensed nintendo song to freestyle jam along to in Wii Music. In GHWT the wii freestyle you are creating your own music and the music sounds ten times better anyway.

I'm a Rock Band guy, for sure, since Harmonix started this whole business before Activision got all high and mighty. Even if they didn't, I prefer the RB2 setlist. I'll still be getting this one, but Rock Band 2 is priority for me.

I can not wait until the 26th! I love how they have added so much to an already great game series. GH3 was amazing, so this otta be even better. theyve added in so many new features like the slider bar on the geetar, the recording studio, drums, mic, and much more... one of my personal favs of the new features is the added seventh note for bass (no frets pressed down). Great idea. Its going to be awesome!
