Remember, the Nerd is just a character. Not every review he does is about a game that sucks. Sure, the games he reviews are flawed, but they're still good.
For example, Battletoads, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest and even Michael Jackson's Moonwalker are all good games.

Don't forget about the Sega CD. It was a great AVGN episode and the games he shows are truly terrible. The system would seem to suck if you only looked at FMV games and James knows it's only funny if his character has something to complain about. The Sega CD has a plenty to offer and some classic games.
As for Battletoads, I've never considered it a bad game. I've only played the NES version once or twice, but I've logged many hours on the Genesis version and have nearly beaten the game. I know the 1-up trick and some of the warps. That damn snake level is pretty hard though, and my sister loves torturing my brother in 2-player. Fun stuff.

This is a helluva a way for The Nerd to start off season 4 with such good material. Fast forward to 6 minutes and 3 seconds and see MechaJackson take out one of the very kids he was supposed to save. I don't know if The Nerd did that intentionally (it doesn't get metioned in the video) but it's damn funny anway.

If you ever played the game, the girl (yes its a girl from the Smooth Criminal Music Video). Its a minor glitch of the system, just open the the thing she was on top of, and she pops out, it was showing where she was hiding is all.

I actually like Moonwalker, but he's right about its flaws. Still, the game does NOT suck. The game version thing is crazy. My copy of the game actually has the Thriller music. I hope to see the Nerd moonwalk again in the future. LOL

Moonwalker was the pinnacle of touching yourself plus videogames...michael jackon's moonwalker was an "experience"..."saving" children with the help of elaborate dance moves and your monkey...looking back at this game...i can see now why michael is an assumed child molester.
It's not a flat-out terrible game but it's held by back some rather questionable game designs (like those goddamn graveyard levels) and ironic imagery...
...and frankly, I prefer the isometric shoot-em-up arcade classic...

Yeah, it's not a perfect game. But it does have lots of style, starting from useless poses to the awesome "Mecha Jackson". I guess it's worth playing it just for the lolz ^^

I know that it is kinda weird to look back and realize that MJ was the shit back then...but the years have passed and the guy has just gotten so weird...
But seriously, I know what you are thinking if you haven't played this game...that it is a horrible pile of shitfuck. I tell you though try this shit out! First you start off, and you do this spin and flip a coin into the jukebox and all of a sudden the MJ music starts. Now at this point, if you are stoned like I am, and remember the good ol' days. You are like this is the shit baby! Damn your all pumped even if the game is a little dated.
I mean your dancin like him, kicking peoples ass...its great...It even sort of distracts you from the fact that you have a fucking chimp on your head at the end level pointing to shit...I mean what were they thinking...seriously??
But anyways all of the levels are pretty fun, the early excitement kind of dies down but really fun all the way through.
This game was great in 1990 and still fun to play now.

will what more can i say about this game on the genesis it would have been better on sega cd at least it would have been the arcade version. but ya all and all i stayed away from this game. will the first reason is that it was always checked out at blockbuster video. some kid was playing it. so the next step was to buy the arcade machine. so the only version i played and seeing is the arcade. in the arcade version he sang the music. it was not just BGM music. and it did have a over head view. and was more easy to play with free play on.
but on mame emulater for some reason they could not copy hes music with him singing in it.

Battletoads is a good game, as long as you don't play multiplayer. The whole AVGN Battletoads review is all about Battletoads f***ed up multiplayer.
