I watched every AVGN episode and so far this is one of the best. I'm glad Rolling Rock made a guest appearance in the video again, because alcohol and beer just go together. Overall the review was awesome a real AVGN classic. Please review some shitty DREAMCAST games.

they probably wanted you to really get into the character and use your own notepad and pen for the clues, you know? that's just my take as i'm a libra/scorpio cusp i see both sides in any argument or topic. meh, it's good and bad.

I popped this game in just a few ago...I like to do that before watching these videos.
Anyways, this game IS HORRIBLE. Now truthfully I wasn't that huge of a Dick Tracy fan even back then..eh.
I don't remember playing this game back in the day. Pretty much didn't touch anything that Bandai came out with back then. THEY ALL SUCKED SHIT. So I pretty much had learned my lesson.
Seriously, the story isn't good, and the controls of the car...they are even WORSE than AVGN describes them. You think Roger Rabbit driving is bad...no my friend you do not know bad until you drive the car in this shit game.
I don't have a huge problem getting hit by the snipers. They don't shoot as much as AVGN makes it sound.
The whole game is just ass. I don't even have the patience to get through one building. Just said FUCK IT. lol
If you want to play a cool Dick Tracy type game, play Deja Vu. That should have been the way that THIS GAME WAS. But No Bandai, you just released shit crammed in a NES cart back then!

Seriously though...By this time I was mostly focusing on the Genesis. I still played my NES, but not nearly as much. Now the Genesis version of Dick Tracy is WAY better. Side scroller shootem up with a cool 3D effect in some of the levels. A good game all in all.

The player just won't load...
I've tried multiple browsers, including Midori and Arora (WebKit, from Safari), Konqueror (KHTML, the predecessor of Safari's WebKit), FireFox (Mozilla Gecko-based browser). The only major browser I haven't tried is Internet Explorer, (I haven't Windows installed), but knowing IE if i tried it my computer would probably explode causing me permanent burn scarring or possibly death.
I managed to get the video, though:
1. Get the HTML source of this page.
2. Find (Ctrl+F)

That heart? It IS a health item. The problem is, this game doesn't automatically use health upon pickup. You have to press B and select at the same time to use it. I guess that would be ok if it were easier to get through the car parts, if you're at full health and find a heart, save it for later, right? Now I never saw the manual, but I'm HOPING it would have told you how to do this. As for the driving part, it would have been easier just to let you walk. If the screen would actually follow Dick when he's on foot, it MIGHT be possible to get around without TOO much trouble, with the smaller hitbox and the ability to shoot back. If not for the disregard of the cryptic control scheme, possibly another point to rant on, overall an accurate review of the difficulty of this game. Have I gotten away from my main point? Sorry about that. Hearts are saved for later, and you press select+B to use them.

I didn't have the patience for this game, but my kid did. He beat the first couple of cases. The snipers? You can get out of the car and SHOOT THEM! (They stay gone for the rest of the level, they're back when you start the next case)
As far as the clues are concerned, yes you have to collect them each and every time you play a level. They are part of the case you're trying to bring against the main bad guy. If you just run up and grab him because you remember what the clues were from last time, what would you use in court?

It took me forever to figure out that you have to hit select to switch to a first aid kit, and keep select held down while pressing B for it to heal you! Now that's some messed up controls.

Boy, I fell victim to this game when I was younger. I had no clue what to do in this game, but I did die a lot and definitely made no progress.

I'm a huge fan. Avid gamer, grew up playing the NES and Genesis with some of my best friends playing Streets of Rage and Mega Man.
Seeing this game not only reminded me of the Warren Beatty film, but of the good ol days of side scrolling gaming.
This episode is without a doubt, one of the funniest out there.
