Saying that the Start button doesn't do "donkey shit" in Ghostbusters II is incorrect. If you pressed it a ghost trap would appear under your feet. This would suck up the ghosts within the area where the trap was. You could then kick it to either side of the screen.
(If your character stayed under it he would get stunned.)

How many ghostbusters movies were made? Two!
But nintend made 3 games: Ghostbusters, ghostbusters II and another, I think it was Super Ghostbusters. I had this third one when I was a kid, the story line was the same as Ghostbusters II but much superior.
While the new Ghostbuster game doesn't come out, the Super Ghostbusters for NES is problably the best game, you could reviewd this one too.

Really glad that after three episodes you got to the sega version! Wow I spent so much time on that, don't think I ever made it through the entire thing because I don't remember the 'little shop of horrors' plant boss. I still have it some where, now I have to go find it!

There is actually one more Ghostbusters game for the NES, and it's better even the Genesis version. It was released only in Japan and it's called New Ghostbusters 2. It's an overhead view where you walk around with another Ghostbuster (and you can select all four, plus Lewis) shooting ghosts and holding them with the proton beam while pressing B makes the other Ghostbuster set the trap. The music is actually good and the graphics are up there with some of the best NES games. If you can find it, check it out.
